DirtyLarry Veteran Posted September 15, 2009 Veteran Share Posted September 15, 2009 GameTrailers.com gave it a 9.1. You can watch the video review here. Even though I am already playing it I am going to watch it. GT really seems to be the source in the media I agree with way more than i disagree with when it comes to reviews, and their video reviews are just usually done really well. Try the drift races. They were a romance forged in hell. I refuse to ****ing do em', I'm sick of them. It took me 30 attempts to get 1st place on first event. Yeah I am sure I will hate the drifts, never been good at doing them, even in the older Need for Speeds I sucked big time and those were the arcadey controls. Also I did my first Hot Lap, and needless to say I am not as good as I thought I was LOL So can anyone tell me if I am just crazy or is there really not a way to copy and paste vinyls? I just want to design one side (like the left side of the car) and then just simply mirror it on the right side, but I see no way how to do that at all???? And gotta say the load times are ass. I even have it installed to my hard drive and damn they are pretty long.
solardog
Ok error is gone, have no idea what it was, but a boot cured it...silly Vista  . Whats with the adjusting of the bright/contrast level? If I follow their instructions my monitor might as well be off its so dark.

I couldn't find it either, I honestly don't think the option is there! :/ And gotta say the load times are ass. I even have it installed to my hard drive and damn they are pretty long. I did the same. It's still a 20-30 second load time which is fairly extreme by even PS3 standards! ;) :D
sn00pie
Regardless of what anyone says. I feel that this is the best NFS game ever made. Sure it has a few things that could be ironed out, but its one the first racers that has me coming back for more. I'm enjoying it more than NHL 10...which is a very good game too. solardog
Seems a bit ProStreetish to me so far, especially in the visuals dept. I'm not hating it, but its got to get a lot better soon.

And the funny thing is, what you said about the vinyls and loading times were brought up in the video review.

DirtyLarry Veteran Posted September 16, 2009 Veteran Share Posted September 16, 2009 Well if I recall, EA made an advanced camera for Skate II available as DLC, so I am almost betting that they may release DLC that is an Advanced Vinyl Editor. I mean seriously, not having an option to copy and paste or mirror one side to the other is just a joke, and any game that lets you add vinyls has these what are now considered pretty "standard" features, so I really think they will be adding it as DLC, and will probably charge for it as well. ViperAFK
I really don't think the vinyl thing is a huge deal, I just slapped on a premade one that looked good and was done with it. Game is great so far, besides the evil Viper vs GT race, only one I can't beat so far lol.
DirtyLarry Veteran Posted September 16, 2009 Veteran Share Posted September 16, 2009 I really don't think the vinyl thing is a huge deal, I just slapped on a premade one that looked good and was done with it.Game is great so far, besides the evil Viper vs GT race, only one I can't beat so far lol. I quit the game to dashboard when I was on that one on one because I did so bad on it. LOL And while the vinyl may not be a big deal to you, I am thinking the lack of some pretty basic features is going to **** off people way more than it just bothers me. To me it is just a joke some basic features are not there, but for some people it was a whole game within the game for other titles out there. Forza being a great example, people literally created and sold amazing designs, so stock just does not cut it for any of those people who look forward to and can express their creativity when creating custom vinyls. And to just not include something as simple as copy one side to another, what should really just be a given, to not include it is just poor, especially since I do have a sneaky, sneaky suspicion it will be an option thanks to some DLC. Like I said with me it is not a huge deal as I never went that crazy with the option in other games, but I do like to play with things, and I cannot even bother now that I know I cannot replicate sides as I just prefered minimal and simple so I liked to mirror sides. I definitely think it is a huge shortcoming and something all other racers this generation that give you the option to customize do a whole, whole lot better. ViperAFK
Finally beat that damn viper vs gt race, the ONLY way I won was by spinning the other guy out around the sharp corners then I easily got 5 seconds ahead. Worked both times.

MR_Candyman
finally "played" some drifting and it didn't go well...at all. It's like the back end's on ice wtf? I'm already telling people to save their money. This is not nearly the game I was hoping for :(

kilimanjaro
I am definitely picking up NFS:Shift later in the day if it's available in stores where I live. Been looking forward to a good NFS title for a long time now. The game should run smoothly at 1920x1200, 4xAA, 16xAF and most settings maxed on a E6550/2GB/Xp Pro/ OCed GTX260(216) rig right? Or am I looking at an expensive hardware upgrade? I was hoping to avoid upgrading this year if COD:MW2 runs decently enough on the current rig :p

In fact, 2 Gb of RAM ?? go get more I just installed it Im gonna try it at those settings and see what happens -- I have a newer system but so far I am not real pleased with it [the computer] core i7 950 2x 275GTX blah blah blah but seriously - go get more RAM - its dirt cheap
DrunknMunky Veteran Posted September 16, 2009 Veteran Share Posted September 16, 2009 Honestly, the only game I can think of which allows you to cut/copy and paste vinyl designs is Forza. And Forza makes a big deal out of it as it was such a huge success in the first game, they've gone to huge legnths in the sequels to almost create a full blown editor for gamers. No other driving game comes close to it.

Actually I have 2 more new 2GB sticks lying around, still in their packaging. Been too lazy to open up the case and install them :p This is a good excuse/time to do that lol. SkyDX
Just came back from GameStop, I know the guy who works there by now and he sold me a copy a day early :p Played the two tutorial races and noticed strange performance issue. The games runs fluid but sometimes falls into some kind of slowmo for no apart reason  I play on highest settings with a Phenom x4 9850+ BE and a Radeon HD4850 512mb. Otherwise it's really fun^^
