Lovell
Personally I thought the game was horrible, bad graphics, the racing felt horrible, cockpit view is ok not sure why so many reviewers gave it a 9 it's no way near the same level as forza or gt. Unimatrix Xero
What are your specs? Runs perfectly smooth here. All settings max. Its system requirements aren't very high either. SkyDX
Well my full system specs are: CPU: AMD Phenom x4 9850 Black Edition @ 2.5ghz GFX: ATI RADEON HD4850 512mb RAM: 3GB DDR2 800mhz MoBo: GIGABYTE GA-MA770-DS3 Sound: Realtek HD Audio AL888 OnBoard OS: Win7 32bit and as I said before the game runs smooth on highest settings but it suffers from occasional "slow motion" behavior as if the game runs only at 80% speed. It doesn't even happen when theres much action on the screen, more randomly... I can play Crysis maxed out on DX10 at 1600x900 with no problems and I doubt SHIFT should be much more demanding but oh well... Gonna update my GFX drivers, haven't done in a while :p

NienorGT
I'm quite impressed by the game. I'm a casual race gamer, so pure sim bore me and it's quite hard, but Sim/Arcade like Grid and Shift are just my branch. Shift look like the best racing game of the year for my needs. Even if I'm 100% sure that Forza III will blow out Shift, I'm not convinced that I will enjoy it more. My C2D 2.2GHz / 2GB / 9800GTX+ run the game well in 1080p. HSoft
Bought it yesterday fo rthe PS3 along with the Best Buy promotion to get the logitech wireless wheel cheap. Played through the first rounds on career mode. Initial impressions. Graphics are fairly good, the feeling of motion in the game is quite good although I don't like it when it gets blurry if you're travelling at a high speed. I've driven at high speeds and it doesn't look like that. Also if you crash into a barrier even at 60mph, everything goes blurry to the point you can't really make anything out for a couple of seconds. Don't like that. I'm not too sure about the star ratings you have to achieve to progress. That seems a little gimicky. The other thing I really don't like about the game is the drifting events. Why do racing games insist on putting these in games now? I've never liked them. I buy a racing game to race, not to see how long I can keep the thing in a slide. Anyway, apart from the above it's a decent game. It's definately no Forza or GT but it's quite enjoyable. If you're looking for a distraction or like racing games then I'd say get it otherwise I'd say wait a few months until the price drops and get it then. solardog
Been playing this for a day now and IMO this is ProStreet on real tracks. this is Simcade all the way. The thing that kills this game for me is it seems they were trying for a more sim-like handling, but the rest of the game is pure arcade in the way you score points for every little aspect like trading paint and spinning out other cars etc. IMO they have made a huge mistake here, they should have gone pure arcade and kept it pure NFS. Racing games are my favorite genre and Ive played most of them, I'll just say that this doesn't even rank in the top 10 for me. I'm going to keep playing, but this is definitely one of those schitzo games that doesn't know what the hell it is...it feels old to me and visually its pretty disappointing... the cockpit is decent but nothing special at all. This is Simcade at its finest which is racing at its worst..IMO. :boo:
ViperAFK
One thing that annoys me is the physics when you run into other cars, If you go full speed and ram into someone from behind you just go straight under their car like a bulldozer. The game is really fun and thats all that matters to me :p If it had a sweet damage system like grid it would be amazing though. And I haven't played drift yet but I did hate it in all the previous nfs games, I do agree the game would be better if they would just let drift die already, no one likes it lol. @solardog You are making it sound like the game ONLY rewards you for aggression, may I remind you you can choose to be either aggressive or precision. if you don't want to trade paint, don't do it! Neo003
I'll skip this one, I have played almost every single NfS game. So now I nearly grow tired of the same BS they keep putting in the game. I'm playing DiRT 2 anyway so I really don't have the time.

san.W10
How is the damage model? Any option to turn off blur? I've always hated blur effect. If u bump some1, r u able to spin them off, or do the AI run on 'rails'? :p
DrunknMunky Veteran Posted September 16, 2009 Veteran Share Posted September 16, 2009 Damage is superficial only, it doesn't effect the car's peformance or total. You can push cars off the road.

If you go into the options you can change damage from "visual" to full, it is supposed to affect turning and speed when damaged but it doesn't seem to do too much. NienorGT
The track cutting penalty is quite annoying for me that drive badly, I'm often out of the track and now, not only I loose precious time, but I may get disqualified :/ @solardog, anything more "old"? Seriously, having "realistic" cockpit view and damage is old now? I tough it was the new trend...

So what are you correcting me for? :p @solardog, anything more "old"?Seriously, having "realistic" cockpit view and damage is old now? I tough it was the new trend... PGR3 had cockpit view and that released in 2005. PGR2 had damage too and that came out in 2003. I'm sure there is more examples but yeah, it's old news :p
