solardog
The Xbox360 controller works great with this game on PC. I also have the sidewinder racing wheel that's 10 year old and still works but don't know if it is compatable with this game. Ill back you up on that. The game options also allow for some pretty decent fine tuning of the controls.

I basically tried to play through the first set of races then put the game away since it was impossible to get through a race without some problem popping up. There are definitely a few Ive noticed especially the issue where some cars would bounce on their suspension during high load situations. There are a few cars that are unusable on certain tracks because of that.

Billus
I quite like Shift over GRID for some reason. I found GRID's graphics a little over the top with all those fuzzies and blurish look though the damage was terrific. Haven't played Shift since it came out cause it lags like crazy with my ATI 4850 on almost all tracks. I'm up to Tier 3 or 4 though. Drifting is horrible even with my G25, it doesn't seem to steer correctly even when set to 900, 720, 480 or 240 degrees. It either oversteers to much or understeers. The main reason I like Shift is because of the clutch. I can say I'm looking forward for a new patch and give this game another ****, hopefully fixing the ATI issue and loading times. I've been playing rFactor too much especially with the F1 mods. Looking forward for F1 2010 for pc as well, hopefully we'll see some proper fully animated and well scripted A.I strategised pit stops. Anyways, that patch better come, it's already way too late.

Raktael
I wasn't going to get shift, but I have to say I am tempted, what do people think in general of it, and is it worth a buy? Also - for people in the UK (don't know about US) if you sign up to coke zone, you can get an access code to get a coke zone coloured/designed Viper (think it was a Viper anyway!) Dreamspell
no link for patch, unless its built into the racing pack already Yep, the Racing pack comes with patch 1.02. Anyway, wow.. this patch fixed all the problems I had (stuttering/slow motion, purple and green artifacts, random crashes/or before races), and the game loads races MUCH faster. I also find the handling of the cars is a bit different, they have much better control (or it might be placebo because I haven't played SHIFT in a long time because of all the bugs). I am pleased with this update, I recommend it anyone who had problems with the game, to give it a try again with this pack/patch.

I did not like this game at first, but I stuck with it and I gotta say its a very decent racer. For a NFS game to enter into the "pseudo-sim" market seemed a joke to me, but just the interior pit view alone may be worth the price of admision, unparalleled. I might be considered a snob when it comes to racers in the way that I hold my nose when I see the letters NFS, in that order, so that makes this game all the more astounding to me. Its not the best and its more of a curiosity to me, but its hooked and landed this racing snob and puts it, IMO, among the only good, 3 or so NFS ever. It's worth it no doubt :) it's easily the best NFS in a very long time (if not ever). It's not without it's flaws, drift for example is a joke in Shift (I like it so much better in GRID, despite it being very over the top) but the rest of the game makes up for it :) I'm hoping they do another DLC with some Aussie cars in it, that'd be epic (I wouldn't even mind paying a small amount for it) and it's not big stretch as HSV/GM Holden and Ford Australia cars have been featured in NFS games in the past. I'm just waiting for the patch and DLC to show up on Steam (have the Steam and PS3 versions). I also think GRID and Shift are about equal, both are flawed but hugely enjoyable games :) (Y)
