Pilsbury
I've had my 360 connected via HDMI to a 1080p LCD TV. I'm now moving it to my gaming room, which the set is too big for, so, I've bought a new PC monitor to use it with, as I already have a good 5.1 sound system and so on. My question is (before I buy a HDMI --> DVI adapter) does the HDMI output only output standard HD resolutions (720P, 1080P etc) or does it do 'odd' resolutions like 1680x1050 (which the monitor is natively)? No big deal if I have to use VGA, but, I'd prefer DVI. Edit: Never mind, just realised I had a HDMI to DVI cable left over from my old media center, and it does do PC monitor resolutions. So, problem solved :) Edited March 6, 2009 by Pilsbury
Rogueosb
i have my xbox connected to my 1680x1050 monitor directly using hdmi. what it does is add 2 black bars to keep the same aspect ratio when outputting 1680x1050
SMELTN
Is a cheaper way to be able to plug your 360 into a monitor than to purchase Microsofts' VGA connector? My monitor has a VGA and DVI connector on the back of it.
neoadorable
that's a great solution which i recommend, so long as you have a sound source. the VGA cable needs a red-white connection on the recieving display, which most monitors do not have. Going with an LCD TV is therefore better - those will have the needed connections.
