+Frank B. Subscriber² Posted March 6, 2009 Subscriber² Share Posted March 6, 2009 If you've yet to take the plunge, Steam is having a great deal on Unreal Tournament 3. For a limited time you can get the multiplayer shooter for just $11.99.Today Steam is having yet another great sale, this time for Unreal Tournament 3. Going alongside the release of the Titan Pack and patch 2.0 yesterday, UT3 is now just $11.99 on Steam, marking a price drop of 40%. The fully up-to-date version of the game is being called UT3 Black, and will be on sale until March 15. But in addition to the price-drop, Steam is also offering a pretty hefty Unreal Tournament bundle, which, in addition to UT3 Black, includes Unreal 2: The Awakening, Unreal Tournament 2004: Editor's Choice Edition, Unreal Tournament: Game of the Year Edition, and Unreal Gold. The whole bundle will run gamers $39.99. The timing of the sale is perfect, and, in combination with the new content in the Titan Pack, should bring a lot of new players who were on the fence into UT3. But if $11.99 isn't enough of a deal for you, UT3 Black will also be getting the Free Weekend treatment this weekend, so you can give the game a shot free of charge. The game can be purchased on Steam here. Source: Ars Technica

rajputwarrior
yeah, this game bombed hard and honestly it deserved too, but they are trying their hardest to make up for it. The new stuff released really makes the game good.
raider360
That's the free weekend Piggy :) I came home from Uni today at the afternoon and immediately started to download a trial of UT3. The servers were busy til the evening and now it is 22:44 and still 0% downloaded :( The download sometimes starts for the few secs and then it drops again and again. :(
lupich
This really is a great deal, can't go wrong with $11.99 for it, I bought the collectors edition upon release and was disappointed that the fan base didn't carry over. The only reason I've stopped playing regularly is because there weren't enough players on at any given time.
Vice
I enjoyed playing the game but it suffers from a big problem: Not enough European Servers & Players on those Servers. Whenever I try to use there bastardised Server Browser I get many Servers over 150Ping with many on the 300+ side. And out of the ones that are european with Low ping only 10% of those will have more then 6 players. It's hard just to find people to play against. I had the same issue with UT2004 and it just seems to be something Epic are unable to fix. I bet if they used a good Server Browser like the one they included in UT99 or even used Steams built in one that Valve use on their games that it would be much easier finding players on servers with good pings for Europeans. Doesn't seem to be any lack of US based servers however.

Vice
i host a 24/7 UK ded server if that helps Vice I uninstalled the game a while ago. No real desire to reinstall it at this point even with the new content. I bought my copy from Amazon for like ?13. I thought 'wow this is a bargain!' after I got the game I realised why it was priced so .."competitively">
DanManIt
That's a really tempting price. The last thing i need is another game to play though
AgEnTsMiTh
I was finally able to transfer my retail to steam today. :) Since this free weekend went into effect, no one was able to get it over to steam. Would keep saying you already own the game.

Would keep saying you already own the game. I had no idea that you could put your Retail Boxed copy serial code in to steam and have it linked to my account like that. I just did it worked great here too. So much more convenient. Maybe I'll install again afterall.
Skyfrog
Does anyone even play this game? I tried it at a friend's house and the servers were mostly deserted. I loved UT2004 but I don't know, this one seems...meh.

LingeringSoul
I just finished playing about a half-hour ago, and I had a pretty easy time finding a good deathmatch server. It definitely seems more smooth than I remember. I was in Deck with about 9 other people, and I didn't notice any lag. Keep in mind that with UT, I normally just play deathmatch, so I can't say anything regarding the other game modes. In any event, I had a pretty fun time. That Steam sale is looking tempting, but I'm not sure how many of the current players are just taking advantage of the free weekend (as I am).
