Web Hosting.

Question

Hey all.

I was just wondering what everyone looks for in a web host. Is amount you pay the biggest issue or are there other things? Do you think alot of companies prices are fair now, if not what would you think to be fair? Is tech support a big deal? Basicly what makes you pick who you host from and if you could change something what would it be. Also if you could give me some examples.

I am doing a study so thanks for the help.

if its personal dont pay a high expensive price, if its for business.. cheap might not be the best solution.. if your company is gonna depend on uptime, then cheap is definately not right..

but other things to look for is.. space / transfer.. also dont get a windows based host.. i had nightmares with that x=

but mines costs 5 bucks a month, 200mb space 5gb transfer.. its only a personal blog site, so it does the job for the price..

Tech Support is a big deal, there is a lot of people out there that don't know what they are doing, granted there are a lot that do, but hey, I'd provide it the most you can.

Prices, I would start off low, offer about 4-5 packages. Starting at $5 and up? Offer fair space amount, not, maybe starting at 25MB, give some nice bandwidth with it.

well if your mainly going to be in the US audience range then a EU server would not only be slower but would be affected by EU IT problems.

Like wise a server in AUS might be slower for you than one in the USA, which is relativly local.
