How can I improve the visuals? Keep in mind I want the website to be very quick loading and so that it looks good at 800x600 and above

Well some people have slow computers, and if they click the link from a link in a message in MSn or something, they're IE is still loading! That page gives IE 2 seconds to load itself up fully

Not bad overall. A bit bland, but that's better than too-flashy, imo.

On another note, i like this line:

"There where I meet my ex, so it shows it IS possible to find love"

I don't know if it qualifies as irony, but it's still humorous to me.

I was gonna say that, you've added that just for show, it's not actually informing the user that something is loading because it isn't.

Ok then, if you say so.

Your code says otherwise.

<meta http-equiv=refresh content="2; url=http://www.elliotsworld.co.uk/index2.htm">

Show an image, wait 2 seconds, go to this URL.

That's all there is, it's not really necessary at all.

Um, it takes a while for their computer to show that initial page too, so your logic is flawed.

Beyond that, it doesn't protect you from anything, as the user should be used to the delay of their particular software anyways, and just gets in the way. Anything like a spalsh screen is HORRIBLE for usablity, and puts people off from a site (who wants to visit a site if they have to wait to see it each time?)
