So, I've taken the plunge.

Was out in Canterbury yesterday and saw HMV had a good deal, so went for it.

Heres what I got.

XBOX 36 w/ 60GB HDD

Wireless Entertainment Pack

Mega Drive Classics

Fable II

GTA 4

All for ?150. (I <3 NHS Discount.)

I'm happy with it so far, apart from the fact the CD drive is LOUD.

I've just ordered the Play & Charge Kit along with Assassins Creed, Burnout Paradise and DiRT.

anything else I should be looking to get? Any good games? I'm not a hardcore gamer, and I won't be getting a Live Subscription so bare that in mind!

Thanks.

I suppose. Although, I'm not really a gamer, but the offer seemed to good to pass up!

I'll take a look at BioShock. I tried Halo on the original XBOX but discovered I'm useless with aiming in the FPS stance with a controller!

Just hook your Xbox up to your router, sign up for a free Live account and download some demos.

I hope you got the Ultimate Box edition of Burnout Paradise instead of the old one!

Already on that case!

Copy games to the HDD

I knew you could do this, but I've only just found the option! Seems Silly to put it tucked away, unless I've gone round the houses.

Quick Question: Once i've installed it to the HDD, will it recognize that I have it on my HDD and load it from there?

@jamesyfx

I wasn't aware there was a difference! But i do in fact have the Ultimate one on order. What is the difference btw?

You'll still need the game DVD in your drive before it'll start, but everything will read from your HDD.

You have to put the disc in the drive then you can just press Y and choose play from hdd

Nope, you stilll need to have the CD in the drive to play the game. For obvious reasons!

And the Ultimate Box is basically Burnout Paradise with a lot of extra content you'd normally need to purchase via Xbox Live. It's very handy!

Ah, I thought I'd have to still have the CD in! Thats good to hear! thanks alot :)

Any other suggestions for games?

Another question - The play & charge kit. Obviously the name implies that I can't charge it while the XBOX isn't on. Is this true? any way to get round it?

If you've got the Play and Charge kit in and connected to a controller, the Xbox won't switch off. Even if you tell it to switch off.

I think it goes into a low power state. The fans are active, and there are activity lights on the Charge Kit - but I've never really noticed if it's actually charging or not.

Definitely check out Oblivion and Fallout 3. Also, you seem to be a fan of racers so you should check out Grid, Project Gotham 4 and Forza 2.

They are good racing games but if you like off road racing then you will love DiRT. I truly enjoyed the first one I just can't wait for the 2nd :droll: .

Edit: :p I forgot you already ordered it.

Also don't worry about the noice, I don't know if NXE is preinstalled or not but once you do you can just save the game on the HDD. It will make a hell of a diffrence.

Also if you copy games to the HDD, and want to play the game, you don't have to press Y to play it. Mine just loads it from the HDD once it detects the DVD automatically setting it to play off the HDD, not the DVD

Wow good price for what you got! I'm wanting the Mega Drive Classics, played a few games at my friend's and saw it had Vectorman!

You won't regret your purchase, the 360 is a great system. :)

It will stay on while the controller is charging. The P&C kit has a red light/green light indicator.

well I am in the same boat as the OP.. I purchased a 360 Friday.. My kid's actually talked me into it :p Pretty excited, but trying to figure things out. We got the Pro Holiday bundle, so we got Indiana Jones and Kung Fu Panda.. It isn't a Jasper proc, but oh well, it came with 2 free games for the kids...

Any thing I need to know or do? Already got a live account Live

Rented COD4 from Blockbuster. Me being a hardcore PC gamer I wanted to see the difference.. I must say I am impressed.. I suck right now though, getting used to moving with sticks instead of mouse/keyboard.. But I do like it.

Just need to find some really good games, like GoW or something.. Also need to find some good kids games.. There are SO MANY games out there, its really hard to tell what is good or not..
