Hardcore Til I Die
I finally completed far cry 2 late last night, and I have to say... I'm not really that impressed with it at all. The graphics are amazing and the wildfire is probably the most impressive thing about the game. The storyline gets very repetitive after a few hours of playing, all of the missions are basically drive to pick something up, drive to blow something up or drive to kill somebody. When you're driving around every single person you say outside of the ceasefire zones attacks you on sight. This results in hundreds of random repetitive firefights with people. You spend the entire game chasing some guy that you have to kill, then at the end of the game you suddenly have a change of heart and start working with him? This made absolutely no sense to me. Whether it was for the "greater good" or not doesn't really matter, you play the role of a ruthless mercenary, I don't think morals are his strong point. NateB1
If memory serves, it has multiple endings.Overall, Great Engine, Bad Game 2 endings - you die in both of them. Yeah, it has some good moments, but overall, it is rather boring.
what
You've just echoed the sentiments of most people. FC2 had a lot of potential, but Ubisoft ****ed up. The multiplayer isn't too bad tbh, but in an open world game, the singleplayer should be brilliant.
ramsy66
A few things that would have improved the experience. (For me at least) 1. People didn't randomly attack you at every checkpoint for absolutely no reason. 2. Enemies didn't take so many bullets to kill. 3. (small, petty gripe warning) It didn't sound like somebody was throwing a tool bag off a cliff when you swapped weapons. Why do people have this strange belief that guns make weird noises when you move them around? 4. Controls were a little less "sludgy". That's just a start, I had many more gripes but I can't remember them all.

What about a quick way to get from point to point, cars and walking is sooo slow...unless I missed something and there is a better way. The buses werent great either tbh. The only way I can see this improving is they block the area off until they fully recognize you as a threat (ask for papers, talk, etc) ...but that would get teadious after awhile. 2 - aim. Most of my enemies drop with one shot to the head 3 - moving weapons DO make sounds as you wrap one around your shoulder. How is metal and cloth (strap on weapon) supposed to sound as you wrap it over your shoulder? 4 - I'll agree on this one as it often takes 2-3 tries to jump onto a rock. Hardcore Til I Die
If memory serves, it has multiple endings.Overall, Great Engine, Bad Game Yes, but the shorter ending is included in the longer one - so if you complete the longer one first, like I did, then you've already seen the shorter ending! Then, after waiting through all of the credits hoping for a final scene or something, it takes you back to the main menu. I saved all of my game files AFTER it said I couldn't go back, so now I can only play it from there or from the very beginning again. Maybe I should've heeded the warning, but I assumed it meant you couldn't go back until after you'd completed the game! With it being an open, non-linear game, I thought maybe we'd be able to explore the world afterwards looking for diamonds! There's literally no replay value in this game at all. I think the engine is great, and even the storyline works for the first few hours.. but once you've played a couple of hours of the game, you've basically seen what the whole game is about! The map editor and online play are really good though, I just have a few gripes with the story mode.
ramsy66
How is metal and cloth (strap on weapon) supposed to sound as you wrap it over your shoulder? Not like the way they sound in this game, that's for sure! :D I just think the guards shouldn't attack you on sight like the way they do in this game. Or just less checkpoints, I dunno, it was annoying being attacked every 5 seconds while driving though, whether my logic is flawed or not! I'm sure the enemies take way too many rounds, I like it when enemies die in a few shots, aka CoD4, I hate it when they take more than 3 rounds, I don't wanna have to aim for the head every time aswell. They're just my ideas of what would make the game more enjoyable, for me.

They're just my ideas of what would make the game more enjoyable, for me. typically, I just plow through the checkpoint if I'm driving and have a destination in mind. Most of them, you can floor it and plow straight through or veer around. 80% of the time, the chasing vehicle never catches up or, if I hear it following, I jump in the back and saw them down and be on my way. As for shots taken, consider it both ways - would you be happy if your character died upon taking 1-3 shots? I had a jammed weapon and took nearly 8-10 shots before I died. I didn't hear the enemy complaining that it took more than one shot. So, why should we expect/demand they die any faster?
Remysaus
Haven't finished it yet, I started out pretty enthusiastic, but when i got to the southern region and saw it was practically the same stuff over again I put it away. I'm planning on finishing it someday though, but there are just too many other games i need to finish or still want to play more than FC2 (Dead Space for one..) Smigit
This was behind Fallout 3 as one of my most wanted games last year. Played it 3 times and got sick every time with motion sickness and that was after starting in Jan after applying some of the patches. Shame but I couldn't handle the blurring and constant bouncing around of the camera so I never even got to the point where things were going to become repetitive. And Farcry 1 was one of my favorite FPS ever. Damn.
Snakehn
i know this thread is kinda old, but i really had to say this... at the beginning i really liked this game but now i am hating it with passion... too $%&$# repetitive, and such long @$$ drive from missions to missions. enemies take too many fr3ak!ng bullets to die. there.... i vented it LOL
Neo003
I haven't even finished half the game yet, after 10 some mission I got so tired that I was ready to throw the damn controller. I thought there was a limit on the receptiveness but with game it's been long being forgotten.
ViperAFK
the main problem for me was traveling from place to place, takes so damn long and you always get attacked by everyone constantly and when you clear out a guard post they all insta re spawn as soon as you move away form it. The game has so much potential. They also promised a completely destructible environment if you watch the early gameplay demos the narrator is constantly going "OMG EVERYTHING IS COMPLETELY DESTRUCTIBLE" and I've ran into plenty of concrete hay-bails and fences and tons of things that should be destructible that aren't, crysis was much more destructible. protocol7
I wasn't overly impressed with the endings either, but I did enjoy the game. I was fortunate not to have the bugs and problems others reported. I haven't played Stalker so this was my first taste of an open-world FPS and it was great being able to play it as you wanted. The insta-respawning guard posts were the only real annoyance as I didn't mind the malaria too much. I still haven't tried the online play yet. Is it as horribly broken as I keep hearing? I might try it if Ubi ever release the next PC patch.
protocol7
I've reinstalled it and am getting back into the swing of it again. For all it's flaws it's still a great gaming experience. This is the first time I've been able to play it with DX10 enabled. It looks a little shinier perhaps, but does run smoother than DX9 mode (the benchmark scores also confirmed this). The only blot is that the in-game icons start showing corrupted graphics after a while. The world textures are fine, it's stuff like your weapon and health indicators, your interact icon etc. They break up after a while. I tried taking a screenshot but they don't show the HUD. Is there any fix for this? Running on a 8800GT with the latest x64 Windows 7 drivers (185.85). Doesn't seem to happen in DX9 mode.

Typhon
I played to the part where you drive to the third mission. That game is boring as hell. I have more fun playing that space pinball game in XP.

Massiveterra
I remember I sent this game back after 3 or 4 hours of playing. I just remember that I got frustrated with the malaria, it took so long to go from mission to mission, diamond hunting sucked, and the AI can detect you if you're sneaking behind 2 houses away. All those and the story and characters were not memorable at all.

I gets really annoying getting attacked constantly when you are just trying to get to your next mission, especially when a lot of the time you have to drive for like 10 minutes to get there. Don't get me wrong, it's a pretty cool game and I'm going to finish it (about 30% right now), but it just gets kind of tedious after a few hours. Oh, and the multiplayer is horrible BTW, it's soooo slow and it takes so many hits to kill guys.
