Transferring hosts

Question

Hey

I set up an invision board on my localhost, got it nice looking and everything. I've uploaded the files to my lycos account and I was wondering how I make it so that the db is transferred and its working on lycos like it is on my localhost if you know what I mean.

Any help would be great.

Cheers

Contrary to popular belief, posting the GD will *not* get you your answer faster. Just a lot of "what is invision power board?" 's. Posting in the appropriate forum *will* get your question answered faster and usually by someone with a good knowledge on the subject.

oh yeah, to help you out:

first, if you don't have phpmyadmin installed, install it. Then get the database transferred using a backup via phpmyadmin. lastly, you just have to edit conf_global.php for your database connection settings (username, password, hostname, etc)

should work fine after that.

your database connection settings (username, password, hostname, etc) should say "localhost", if your trying to use a database that isnt localhost as I think your asking then replace that with the IP of the current server your on.

For ex. I have a client who has two sites. He is only allowed to have one databse on x server. But on my server your allowed unlimited, so he changed his databse connection settings in the conf_global.php on x server to point to the IP on my server. All works good.

Hope that helps.
