Runes of Magic Thread

Recommended Posts

Runes of Magic is an MMORPG which is still in beta form and was first announced in December of '08. RoM plans its first release for March 19th of this year (in 2 days). I've played the game for about a month and love it. It has deemed the nickname "the World of Warcraft clone". The only thing is.. its free with no monthly subscriptions. Below is a screenshot and a link to their trailer.

Maintenance Plan up to the 19th:

The official Runes of Magic launch is closer than ever and a lot of things are still in the pipeline this week.

Here's an overview what you have to endure and can look forward to:

Server downtime for patching

Today on March 16th, 2009 at app. 10pm PST the servers will be taken down for a small patch and update.

We reckon that this might take no longer than the usual 3 hours.

Server downtime for launch

To prepare the launch properly, we will take down the Runes of Magic servers on March 18th, 2009 at 2am PST.

We will do extensive maintenance and a lot of polishing to the website and the forums as well.

So these will be shutting down at the same time and will be back when the servers are online.

We would like to thank all of you for your continued support and hope to see you again when Runes of Magic goes live on March 19th, 2009!

(Oh... and note: There will be no character wipe and you all get a complete TP reset and debt wipe.)

Id rather pay my ?8 a month and play the real thing than what looks like a knock-off. If the game good it,ll be because they`ve ripped off most of what made wow good and ported it to there own universe.

But hey if our a cheap bugger or are sick of wow then I guess playing a knock off version of it might be fun......

Had a look at the site, yeh its free to play and download but you have to buy "diamonds" to get in game items. Tbh this is looking like nothing more than a cheap rip to suck in a gullable player base, who imho be better pulling there fingers out and just playing wow.

Downloaded and patched up. Just waiting on my account to become active. Anyone else wanna give it a shot? Figure if anything might be something fun to play around with.

Thinking of being a S/R (Scout/Rogue) or maybe vice-versa.

Yea I started playing it because I enjoy free games more, and was recommend this from the guys of TRS.

For a free WOW, it's quite nice.

I've had it installed since the game came out, and I only end up playing it when Tuesday patch day comes around. Level 11 mage so far.

absolutely love this game. Only been playing since Friday night, but its a great game so far. Even got a bunch of my wow buddies to come over and play it with me. 9 out of 10 of them were pleasantly surprised and continue to play.

I have uninstalled it already, not worth the time lol

Yeah, there was no life to it. I played for an hour or two and didn't see a reason to keep going. I don't know what it is about WoW, but most other MMOs just feel lifeless and boring. I really would like to get away from it, but I can't find something good enough to switch to.

Well, I don't play WOW either. I play LOTRO. So a bit different reason lol

well I hit level 20/20 last night. You can truely see how the game has alot of wow things, as after level 20, you are much more "on your own" in a much bigger environment, with alot more cool and scary looking baddies. I have to say I am really enjoying my experience, and honestly my biggest thing was, I was looking for a replacement for WoW until Star Wars comes out. Honestly I don't want to pay for another MMO, like Aion Online or something, because I know if I pay for it, I will have an investment in it, and will feel committed to continue to play it, and with ToR less than a year away, I don't want to miss out on that first awesome ride in ToR.

*Kicks this back up to get some more exposure.*

Phase One of Chapter III: The Elder Kingdoms! Phase One, also known as Patch 3.0.0, will include portions of the fantastic continent of Zandorya.

Begins soonish.

I just started replaying as a tithe over until Cataclysm. I'm now a 13 (almost 14) Elven Warden and I'll be going to get my Scout subclass soonish.

I freaking love the Warden. I hated the scout as a primary class, but I'm really loving the Warden.

Anyone still playing? :(

Well got tired of Allod's Online at level 23 because of all the ganking. So decided I would give RoM another try. My Mage/Priest is at level 35/25. The latest expansion came out tuesday. Looks pretty good.

You know the graphics in Allod's looks so much better than RoM, but RoM feels more comfortable
