SuperKid
How does steam select my download region, it started at 1.4mb/s on css then went to 80kb/s i checked my region it was on Beliux or something so i put back to United Kingdom, restart steam and it is now at 1.4mb/s again, why it change to some Beliux area or location or something? how does it decide on the region? Im pretty sure i select English at the start of the steam app installation as it is automatically on that option anyways. EDIT: I just read the message below it, i guess it just didn't test it yet no wounder the update was taking ages on the install. it took about 5 mins to update steam on first install must of been dlin from this beliux location or w/e it is. ah well i changed it now and its working perfect. Yusuf M. Veteran Posted March 18, 2009 Veteran Share Posted March 18, 2009 Under the download region, it says: This region is periodically auto-detected based on which Steam content servers are nearby. It can change as new content servers are placed, old servers retired, or as internet topology changes. If you don't see your country in the list, just select the region closest to you. I live in Toronto and it sometimes changes to New York. It isn't that much of an issue because New York is fairly close to Toronto. In your case, Benelux is fairly close to Great Britain. It's quite normal for your download region to change. EDIT: Sorry, I don't know why I didn't see your edit. :pinch:
