PGHammer
While the new (and now live) Battle.Net has been expected to be the home of StarCraft II, and other future Blizzard betas, there's a heck of a lot more to the new Battle.Net than that. In addition to being able to manage (as expected) any accounts from World of Warcraft, us old-school Starcraft (especially Anthology or BattleChest) owners haven't been forgotten, either. If we have the CD package from Starcraft (original, BattleChest, or Anthology), we can download a completely up-to-date copy of the Anthology/BattleChest two-CD set (for Anthogy or BattleChest owners) or the original Starcraft (for those that bought that alone) and manage *that* from Battle.Net. (Shades of Steam.) Why is this important? Most (if not all) of us old-school StarCraft players (especially those of us that bought BattleChest, which is a VERY old package deal) have moved from Windows 98 (original, which was new when BattleChest went retail), to Windows XP, if not Vista (I've gone all the way to Vista Ultimate x64), and have despaired of getting that old software onto our newer (much newer) operating system and hardware. This will be a way to see if they have truly tossed us a meaty-enough bone to keep our interest up until the SC II beta gets serious. I'm, in fact, VERY curious to see exactly how *tweaked* Starcraft Anthology is, especially graphics and performance-wise, for the new hardware that will be thrown at it. (While StarCraft, even BattleChest, was commonly run on high-end MMX Pentiums and low and midrange Pentium-IIs, any of that is FAR below even where my Celeron DC E1200 would be at *bone stock*, which it certainly is anything but, let alone the Core2Duos, Core2Quads, and the odd i7 that will be fired up and thrown at the re-tooled Anthology code while we wait for the first beta bits of SC II.) -Hiroshi-
lol apparently I can't figure out how to sign up, I fill out the info, follow the password rules, and it never works.
Eric Veteran Posted March 24, 2009 Veteran Share Posted March 24, 2009 You've actually been able to register Starcraft/Warcraft/Diablo with your blizzard.com store account for a while now, but it's handy they've moved them to the main battle.net site now. I merged my WoW account too so I only have one sign-in.
-Hiroshi-
Oh what the ****? "This service is not available" I have my ****ing Diablo 2 Launch CDkey tied to my blizzard account! Yusuf M. Veteran Posted March 24, 2009 Veteran Share Posted March 24, 2009 I'll give it a try when I get the chance. I'm glad they're doing this. I have my original StarCraft CD-key and my Brood War CD. Unfortunately, I lost my original StarCraft CD a long time ago. It's been so long since I last played the game. I truly, truly miss it. HeartsOfWar
I've got all my blizzard games with CD-keys registered, but for some reason the won't recognize my Warcraft II BNE key Warcraft, Warcraft II, Warcraft II exp, and Diablo didn't have keys, so you can't register them... doherty
Dont forget to opt in for the free beta key to Starcraft 2. I think everyone is opted in by default but I might be wrong. Login and go to change settings(I'm pretty sure it's that option) and you have 2 things.

-Hiroshi-
How did they do that? I haven't heard of issues in the past with battle.net. I don't know how else to explain it to you other than they say they transfered the Blizzard accounts over. I have Diablo 2 + LOD, and Starcraft 1 on that blizzard account. I go to log in with my username and password, and it says "This service is not available".

They're down for maintenance today. Try again after about 2PM Eastern and it should be back up. I'm guessing since BN is merged with WoW now they had to do some extra maintenance on BN. Eric Veteran Posted March 24, 2009 Veteran Share Posted March 24, 2009 Are you serious? Epic fail, Blizzard. They do maintenance every Tuesday. I don't think they'll have to take battle.net down every week, just today. They could have posted a message on the BN login page though. :(

Eric Veteran Posted March 24, 2009 Veteran Share Posted March 24, 2009 Yeah "This service is not available" is pretty cryptic. I tried logging in to the WoW forums and it just says, "operation failed." That one's even more cryptic. :D

PGHammer
Works! :D I was able to log in. I rebuilt my (long-unused, hence dead) BN account (never did WoW) *yesterday*. I bought SC as part of the old BattleChest bundle (which Anthology replaced) way back in 1997; I entered my CD key from that, and BN correctly recognized it as an Anthology key, and promptly offered me the option of downloading a new *combined* Anthology, ready to install (even on Vista Ultimate x64, my OS of choice). Of *course* I jumped on it. The only real quibble was the slow download (likely due to heavily bogged servers). The install is decently fast, and there are no real offline single-player bugs in Vista x64 (yes; the color bug has been well and truly banished). I *would* like to adjust the resolution settings to take advantage of taller resolutions (such as 1280x1024 or, better yet, 1600x1200); AFAICS, basic Starcraft doesn't support such adjustments.
