Anyone still playing CS:Source?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I just installed Counterstrike: Source again and i'm interessted if anyone is still playing it?

I remember back when it was released and I played in a clan called chaos theory. Was well fun! I think the reason why I liked playing css more than BF2 was because of the communication between players during the game. In BF2 I almost never used the chat which I think made the game less attractive.

Anyway I just wanted to know if anyone still play it and if that person would want to play someday? Please leave your SteamID and I will add you. Or add me 90martin56

/Martin

I used to play regular CS:S, but now I find myself going to the Zombie Mod servers most of the time... The Escape maps are awesome, you have to reach the end of the map before you get infected by the zombies, and there's usually a boat or a helicopter to help you escape, or even a nuke launcher. :woot: :woot:

I haven't tried that... Sounds fun:D

Although i'm one of them who thinks all these mods are kinda like destroying a good game. Everyone seems to be playing Gungame, Deathmatch, Zombiemod or warcraft mod or whatever they are called. Theres almost no server without any mods nowadays. Or maybe i'm just not looking good enough?:p

I LOVE the escape maps but I still play standard CS:S games frequently, I have been playing for a few years, CS:S was my introduction to PC games.

CS:S was my introduction to online games:P But then I started selling gameservers and that took up all the time.

All the gaming I got to do was when I checked if the server functioned correctly and that usually took about a minute, so didn't do much gaming during those sessions:P

I remember the excitement I felt before the release of Counter-Strike: Source. I was so sure that it'd be the best online game ever. Unfortunately, it wasn't as great as I expected it to be. The game felt so different from Counter-Strike 1.6. It really didn't feel like a "Counter-Strike" game. I'm not saying it's a bad game though. It's definitely enjoyable but it just doesn't cut it for me. I'm sure most people that played CS for a long time will agree with me. Anyway, to answer your question: I don't play it.

Chatting with other players on cs:s is what defines the game strategy and make it a lot of fun. Servers with mute players are boring.

What's the deal with cs 1.6? Cant stand that, ugly graphics slow gameplay...

I still play CS:S occasionally, but I turned to BF2 for some reason.

I'd like to play some BF2 with you if you want? Aslong as you have a microphone and ventrilo/teamspeak so we can communicate. Although my game won't work for some reason, something about Punkbuster. Will reinstall it later and hopefully it will work again.

That's usually what people say if they have been playing CS1.6 before Source. I personally think source is better but that's mostly because I can't stand the ugly graphics in 1.6. Otherwise I like the gameplay in both the games. And I do play 1.6 when i'm at LAN since everyone have it.

Yeah the chatting is what makes it fun:) In the cs games you get to know your opponents which you will not in the battlefield series and that is what makes CS better.

I agree with you that it's ugly graphics but I can't agree when you say it's slow gameplay.

I still play every once in a great while; I still suck though.

Add me on steam and we can play sometime:) 90martin56 I'm not good anymore so i'm sure we can have a laugh togheter:)

Well, the game was originally released in 1999. It runs on the GoldSrc (Half-Life) engine. Sure, it isn't great compared to today's games but it's the gameplay that matters. There's a reason why people still play it nearly 10 years later. It's still quite popular in online gaming leagues like CAL and OGL. Plus, you can't have a LAN party with out some Counter-Strike 1.6. :p

Of course I still play CS:S --- that game is wicked cool. I can't play any games at the moment though because my GPU died and I haven't been able to afford a new one yet. I'm having enough difficulties watching anime I downloaded. But I'll be back on CS:S when I do get a new GPU. I know of some really good servers, to. =)

I'd still play it, but there hasn't been a new replacement pack (or at least none that I know of) for a long time now. And I am one of those players that likes to continually change his weapon skins and sounds etc all the time. It's a pain to go and download new individual skins/models/sounds one by one. That's why I like the replacement packs like the old Fusion pack etc. There were a couple nice packs that came out a few years ago, but as I said I haven't seen any recently.

If anyone knows of any packs, feel free to link them :)
