Fallout 3 help

Recommended Posts

yeah I was wondering if anyone could help me with this, I've been browsing the net forever and still no dice.

Fallout 3 used to work fine on my computer when I had an ATI X1650 in it, then I popped in an 8800 GTS and now it'll get to the splash screen, and when I press play it just says an error has occured. It also did this with Oblivion. I've tried upgrading drivers, downgrading, I've tried re-installing the game, even patching but the patch fails at the end when it tries testing the game. I've tried using the mod manager to by pass the start up features, but still no luck. It was working fine up until I put this new card in.

Could someone please help me with this?

Delete all the configuration files the game creates in your Documents and uder profile folders. Then restart.

The problem must be related to the fact that the game create some config files for each type of card, specially what shaders that card uses.

well tried that, but it didn't work, when I press play on the splash screen, it just goes as if it's loading, then a second later says the game has stopped working

As far as I remember some files are hidden. Have you tried the "All Users" folder?

Or maybe is directly a drivers problem.

Interesting....

I have the exact same problem

Fallour 3 worked fine on my ATI 4850 but when I got a GTX280 it doesn't load

Just crashes right after I hit play from the launcher

If anyone finds a solution to this it would be great

I'll try deleting the config files when I get home... Tho I did already try uninstalling and reinstalling...
