Marshalus Veteran Posted March 31, 2009 Veteran Share Posted March 31, 2009 My friend from work is having troubles with his 360. None of his controllers will sync with the console, even after changing batteries, rebooting the console, unplugging the console, etc. I brought my controller over, tried it wireless and wired through the USB charge cable, and all the controller does is blink in a full green ring at you. We're able to hook a keyboard up, and navigate the menus that way. We did an "Inital Setup" from within the System Settings menu, that didn't change anything. We also put a USB drive with the latest firmware in and reflashed, but that didn't help. Anyone else know any tricks?
Coldgunner
Do the controllers work on another system? looks like he may need to call MS. Edited March 31, 2009 by Coldgunner
Marshalus Veteran Posted March 31, 2009 Author Veteran Share Posted March 31, 2009 Yeah, my controllers work fine on my system... but not his. I didn't try his controllers on my system, but I don't see why they wouldn't work. Do the controllers work on another system?looks like he may need to call MS. He called MS, they basically told him he was out of warranty and to shove off.

What? Maybe he needs to write a letter to Bill Gates? /sarcasm I think he could try ringing MS and try to convince them again? Sethos
Try and lick the IR port on the
Marshalus Veteran Posted March 31, 2009 Author Veteran Share Posted March 31, 2009 Try and lick the IR port on the 360 Lick? When I got into the office today, he had his Xbox disassembled on his desk, and was talking about who he thought the RF card may be the problem. Ricardo Gil
Have you tried using a Wired controller?

Marshalus Veteran Posted March 31, 2009 Author Veteran Share Posted March 31, 2009 Depends, does the wireless controller with a charge and play cable attached count? I started thinking maybe it still uses RF for communication, and the USB cable is just to charge.

Try plugging one in, if it works then it's probably the wireless receiver.
Olemus
He shouldn't have opened it. He could have forced a RROD and sent it back under the 3 year warranty D=
DrunknMunky Veteran Posted March 31, 2009 Veteran Share Posted March 31, 2009 Don't force the RROD, MS can tell when you've done it. So chances are they will just send it back and you'll have a dead console with lots of dry solders (N)
Marshalus Veteran Posted March 31, 2009 Author Veteran Share Posted March 31, 2009 We cleaned it out (compressed air) and reseated the RF board and now it is as good as new.
witalit
Crazy never would of thought that was the issue. Nice one!
Brad.
Yeah nice one! The play and charge kit would have sync'd the controller to the console anyway, but glad it's working (Y)
