Jasper machine?

Recommended Posts

Since theres no PS3 price drop i am looking at getting another 360, im looking at an Arcade machine, i know what a Jasper is but is there any way of telling what machine it is by the box, does the jasper advertise itself as having a 256mb memory unit or 256mb onboard?

The reason i ask is if i go into game they dont have the actual boxes in on the shop floor, dont want to have to keep asking them to take the xbox into back room and come back with another one just to get a jasper.

You could check the lot number and ask if they have any boxes with lot number 0843X or above (I think that's the number for a Jasper but I could be wrong)?

you know the gap in the xbox 360 box to look through to the serial code etc? A jasper console will show ''12.1 A'' above ''made in china'' :p the others say 14.0 A (?) and 16.5 A :)

This (Y)

And it will most likely say TEAM FDOU with a lot number of 084* (year and week it was made). Anything high than 43 and it's definitely a Jasper.

the gap in the box is what I looked for... Although my Gamestop had no idea what I was talking about.. I actually had the print out with me from work, which showed what to look for.

Although I ended up getting the Holiday bundle for the games.... Holiday bundles do not come in Jasper models :(

150w. My fifth 360 is a Jasper.

Since it's down to 150w they made the power brick smaller right? Or is just the plug different?

Makes me wonder how low it can go in the next revision. Or if they're fine with the Jasper version now.

I don't think the power brick is any smaller (I remember comparing my old one and Jasper one), it maybe a little bit however it is a hell of a lot lighter.

Got a new 360 on backorder from a sale that was on last weekend. Will be interested to see if I get a Jasper or not. That said, I won't be too shattered if I don't.

the new machines are nice - room temperature even after hours of being turned on. plus i seem to like the matching disc tray better than the chrome one. almost 100% sure you'll get a Jasper, smigit, i can't see why not?

The pro consoles even as Jasper still have the chrome disc tray. At least mine did

Or just take the chrome tray off your old 360 and put it on the new one :p

Yeah, but you have to void the warranty to replace the eject button :p

Yeah but I got the arcade cos it was so cheap. No biggie really but, I'll live. Not worth voiding a warranty over. I think I look at the trey itself once every few days.

Pfft, warranties

As someone said though, Jasper Pros can also be found now if you really miss the chrome.

I need to replace my 360 elite (The tray does not close when you press the button, you have to push it close), I have until August since that's when my Best Buy warranty runs out. Since my issue is not too sever I've been holding off in the hopes that some elite jaspers show up (and not the red special editions either). I'm starting to think that there will not be any black 360 elites made. I think I'll just have to settle for a falcon elite.

Has anybody seen a black 360 elite jasper?

The only ones I seen that are jaspers are the red ones, and the one I happened to see had matching red lights - less than 2 hr gameplay on it... Pitiful MS.. gouging for that system and having it fail pretty much out of the box is unacceptable.

seems the jaspers aren't as cracked up as they claim to be. Back to the drawing board MS.

my assumption was that all machines now, regardless of grade, are jaspers.

As far as I've heard theres still non Jasper machines floating around these shores. At least according to some buyers as of at least last week.

I think the Elite line is getting shut down?

feeble attempts at debasing the 360 again...i thought that was so 2007.

smigit, as was noted above, a quick look at the cut out tells all...if it's 12V then it's a jasper fabrication.

I just got an Xbox 360 a week ago from newegg. I was about to order a holiday bundle, but instead i just got a normal "retail" model, since I figured the holiday was an old model.

And yep, I got a jasper. :)

BTW, my Xbox is an arcade model.
