Olemus
Just played about an hour of it, It certainly does have that old style feel about it. Definitly worth a play imo.
MR_Candyman
Sweet, gonna have to give it a go. I hate how Lucasarts just abandoned making good non-star wars games.

MR_Candyman
How sad is that this genere practically died. no idea why either. The games were cheap to make as they just kept reusing the same engine. They sold a ton, and people loved them. They were also good PR in some cases. For instance if you saw one of the lucasarts ones like Monkey Island, you saw the logo and the dacing monkeys and the music and it instantly made you smile. These games also make you think a lot more than most new ones.
LightIdea
I miss SCUMM engine games. Moreso I miss the AGI and SCI based games :( I love the Sierra Quest series.
Olemus
Im about halfway through the game now and Im loving it, definitly takes me back to the old SCUMM days with its humour and character interaction. Its not going to be an all time great but its definitly worth at least one playthrough.

MR_Candyman
That is why. These games were just too cerebral for the modern gaming generation. I was so ready to disagree with you, but I'm starting to think you're right. We grew up with games that made you think and really most games nowadays don't. EVE Online is a great example of this. It's a game that makes you think, yet most people try it, can't figure it out, then stop playing. I wonder why kids nowadays don't seem to want to use their brains while playing games. I wonder if it's associated with the shift from board games to video games themselves? Start not using your brain at an early age and you'll keep on that track. MR_Candyman
Don't forget Phantasmagoria!! Never even heard of that one. Going to have to try to find a copy and give it a go. I remember back in 1992 when Dark Seed came out. I was hooked and frustrated for literally months trying to finish this game. I bet if I were to play it nowadays I still would have a lot of trouble. System Shock was a great game too. I never got hugely into it but it was one of my brother's favorite games. Heck, even the flight sims back in the day were loads harder and more realistic than the ones today. I couldn't tell you how many hours I wasted playing Red Baron or Jane's Apache Longbow, or B-17 Flying Fortress. Then there's games like Das Boot, Historyline, F-16 Combat Pilot, Their Finest Hour, ect. Heck, even the Wing Commander games were better made and more fun than pretty much any of the new games. I know we probably soud like silly old fools, but I really do have a problem with how the gaming industry is going. It's the reason my brother stopped working for EA. Not because he didn't like working for them (He loved working there), he just didn't want to keep doing sequel after sequel and unimaginative games. JoeC
I've got this installed back on my desktop, and it's good fun for a few hours but it soon degenerates into the main problem with point'n'clicks - you have to be thinking on the same radiowaves as the developer otherwise you'll get nowhere. Started promising with Ceville having his multi-purpose staff which was used for various things, but as soon as he gets put in prison he loses it and you don't get it back (unless you get it later on, I've not got that far yet). I'd still say it's worth a playthrough simply because of the humour - Ceville has a great sadistic streak, and the dialogue is fantastic.
carmatic
huh, this game gives the term 'High Elves' a whole new meaning, doesnt it.... EVE Online is a great example of this. It's a game that makes you think, yet most people try it, can't figure it out, then stop playing. theres a difference between using your brain to beat the game, and using your brain to figure out how to play it at all... theres a big learning curve problem with EVE
Joni_78
Thx for the tip, i'll check it out :). It's sad that point'n' click games are so rare nowadays, been big fan since I got The Secret of Monkey Island in Amiga. These newish point 'n' click adventures are amazing incase someone has missed these: The Longest Journey Syberia Still-Life
StealMySoda
I tried it. It's meh, I enjoyed it for a little while, but it gets a bit repetitive.
