Titoist
So, your XBox 360 RROD'd. Now you have to send it to MS, does it make you angry that you have to send it? Don't include the anger that you get when the 360 first RROD'd. Why? Reason for this topic: My XBox 360 had an RROD last Saturday. I called Microsoft and scheduled a repair. I recieved the box Tuesday and sent it out that day too. Today (Friday), 3 days after I sent it out I got it back. During this process I was not mad or anything because I didn't have a 360. Actually I was happy that I was getting a fresh 360 that is clean, dust free and up to date. However, some people have a serious problem, and others have such a problem that they go to walmart and buy a new one and don't even bother sending their old one for repair, even though its covered. Why is this?
+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted April 3, 2009 Subscriber² Share Posted April 3, 2009 Of course it's an inconvenience, but I doubt anyone really hates it, they're getting a fixed 360 :p Unless you're one of the unlucky people blowing through 3 or 4+ consoles. Only thing they could do a bit better is collection/turnaround. When my PS3 broke I had a new one 2 days later at my doorstep, and all Sony request you do is swap it with the old one with the delivery driver. You don't need to send anything away and wait on it. Of course that's under warranty, a repair outside of warranty is going to mean sending your console away. As for people not sending it away, warranty seal most likely broken - Either by opening the console to try and x-clamp fix the RROD, customizing their internals, or piracy through modifying drive firmware. I've heard of people sending away modified consoles though and getting fixed ones back, but due to piracy being one of the most likely reasons for people to tamper with the internals, they'll probably be stricter at checking nowadays. Sethos
Two 360s and no RRoD yet but I wouldn't hate / be angry about it. At least they offer you can send it in, unlike other products that break, you have to take it to a store and wait 2 months for them to repair it, then when you get it back they haven't done anything etc. So yes, I would get annoyed over a RRoD but happy over the fact that Microsoft is at least owning up to their mistake and offer that service. Sikh
Wow good too see you have a turn around. My friend just got his RROD last last week monday. Got the box thursday, shipped it out friday(box came too late to pack and ship thursday). Got it back Thursday of last week, didnt get to play it until monday, and after 20 mins of Crackdown it RROD'D again.... Yes, thats right, his 2nd RROD, and he got his same xbox back, and it RROD after only 20 mins of a heavy gpu related game. So now, he called them and since this is his 3rd RROD in the matter of days. He gets the privalege of overnight shipping. Well the representative that took is info this time was an idiot becuase she said "yourll get a box tomorrow(tuesday)" and he hasnt gotten one yet, and its friday. Thats real good overnight service isnt it? I have nothing to say but that they fail. They didnt even offer a controller or anything like they do. Exspecially with this being a BIG inconvience and he leaves for basic next tuesday. So, when he called today, the guy said he gets a box tomorrow and that he's gonna aim for him to get a brand new console. I believe this guy becuase someone I work with had his 3rd RROD on march 12th. He called, got a box the next day, 2 days later got his console back. It was manufactered on the 13th of march. He got a brand new 2 day old manfactured console... and the funny thing is, since his was a launch xbox, they even sent him a power supply with it. He was confused why but then I told him why. He got a jasper arcade that was manufactured 2 days before he got his console. I saw the date and everything. 12.1A, 150w power supply. it was unbelieveable. The only "newest" manufacured 360 I knew of was the resident evil bundle. That was manfactured starting this year. But anyway, Its suprising to know that not all of there reps are idiots. Also, was this your first RROD?
Titoist
This was actually my second. My first RROD occured exactly a year after I got my 360, but this RROD occured 2 years since my last RROD.
freeza
I've always gotten my 360 back within a week and it's always been a new model. Most recently i got a 12/2008 model :)
dbigdawg
Last year, I had an X-Box 360 give me the RROD. I took it back to WAL-MART and not only did they exchange the X-Box 360 for a brand new one, but WAL-MART gave me $50 back in cash! Microsoft had dropped the price of the X-Box 360. :) So far, I have had no problem with my current X-Box 360 (cross my fingers). :) I really lucked out! :-) I feel bad for you. Sorry to hear about your X-Box 360.
-T- Member Posted April 3, 2009 Member Share Posted April 3, 2009 I've got 2 xbox's that i've got to send away, but down here you need to do it all yourself and I never get time to get to the post office due to work, so I ended up just buying a new one. bob_c_b
If you aren't annoyed by this kind of failure you have too much free time. I'm on my third 360, hopefully this one will not die hard.
NikBrooks
Im on my 4th xbox now. The first one took a month and a half to return, so yeah that one ****ed me off a little. But the other times have just been days. I cant say I like it when it happens, but I can easily find stuff to keep me amused just as well.

I'd say it's the other way around, if you can't find something else to occupy yourself with while its off for repairs, you have too much free time. DrunknMunky Veteran Posted April 3, 2009 Veteran Share Posted April 3, 2009 On my 3rd 360 now, still love the console and probably more than I did day 1  Being without it was hell though, all I had was my PS3 (N) Gaming died for me until I got my new 360 :p
spenser.d
Wouldn't know b/c I've never had an RROD :p My Xbox has been out of commission for about a month and a half now...dead AV port...I'm finally going to be scheduling a repair on Monday and I see no reason why I'd be angry. I've managed to last this long without it. -Spenser
OhMuffin
When my elite did the 3RROD I bought a new one at wal-mart and did the old witch-a-roo, including the serial number sticker. Worked flawless and I was up and running in 2 hours rather than waiting forever for a coffin box.
Smigit
No I'd be angry at the fact it broke, not the fact it needs sending off.

I voted "No" to his question "Do you get angry when you have to send it out for repair?". 'Cause I did not get angry :p when I had to send mine (for broken drive not RRoD). So people like having to send their consoles to Microsoft? :| I answered the question as written. The sending it off doesn't **** me off. I mean, I could leave it sitting there broken but what would that achieve? The fact the hardware in the past has been unreliable is what I'd get ****ed at...not the procedure to get it fixed once broken which is fairly smooth in the end of the day.
