Mike Frett
I felt the need to ask if your ISP auto deletes your e-mail if it contains a virus? After all these months of recieving e-mails saying something to the effect of "this email was deleted and contained a virus" or some ruckus to that effect, I just found out that my ISP has RAV antivirus installed on a linux mail server. I just thought it would be nice to share this info with you guys. Heck, I didn't know what was going on lol. ;)
Jon
Indeed. You should be aware that most AV software quarentines suspicous emails, if it cant determine whether it containts a virus or not. Chances are the admin at your ISP would open these mails, and read the contents (all be it at a glance, not on purpose). Just be aware of this fact (it *is* a fact, this is experience talking here), email isn't a private form of communication. Consider using PGP if you need to say anything dodgy / private. Personally I'm happy that ISPs are starting to filter spam + viruses, users shouldnt be expected to do this, and quite frankly cant be trusted to do it (if they could, why do viruses like klez spread so fast, and for so long). Mike Frett
It don't bother me man, I never really send e-mails anyway. I'm glad they are doing this. I was fed up with that darn Klez virus.
