Remysaus
Amazon has opened their Xbox LIVE store which will allow you to purchase Arcade titles directly from Amazon. In addition, you can also purchase points (good for Marketplace content) and subscriptions as well. The cool thinks about this is that you can use the Xbox LIVE Amazon Xbox LIVE store to purchase Arcade games and Microsoft points to send as gifts. Once you make your Amazon purchase, you’ll get a code that you can enter on your console or directly on Xbox.com to get your purchased item(s).Edit: It is currently US only. http://majornelson.com/archive/2009/04/08/...rom-amazon.aspx hopefully it gets international in the future, I'd definitely use it, at least I won't be having spare points if I only want 1 game. +Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted April 8, 2009 Subscriber² Share Posted April 8, 2009 I have absolutely no idea why I'd use this over turning on my xbox and buying something (outside of gifts), but more choice is better I guess.
+jamesyfx Subscriber² Posted April 8, 2009 Subscriber² Share Posted April 8, 2009 I don't feel screwed. The US always seems to get additional products and services for convenience only but that's just because that's what Americans expect!
bob_c_b
I don't feel screwed. The US always seems to get additional products and services for convenience only but that's just because that's what Americans expect! I would think everyone would "expect" that kind of thing? I agree with Audioboxer above, no idea why I would use, but choice is never a bad thing.
coresx
I have absolutely no idea why I'd use this over turning on my xbox and buying something (outside of gifts), but more choice is better I guess. Well, the major reason. No points cards or spare points. The gift part is also worthy. Good idea that needs to be made international. This is how Microsoft will keep retail happy as digital distribution becomes bigger and allow both to co-exist just as hard copies which will always survive for some time to come. Remysaus
I currently have 370 points, exactly enough to buy... nothing. Even the cheapest arcade games start at 400 points and if i would want to get one I'd have to get another 1600 points card. guess i could spend the spare points on some themes :hmmm: Anyway, that's why I hope they bring it here eventually too. Smashing Pumpkin
I had some odd ammount of points left, bought the Halo 3 Mythic Premium theme and have 70 points left. Disappointed by Mythic theme :( Just realised that when I goto uni n have no Live it'll be useless, no friends section, no theme really!
lawtai
now if only they charged a cheaper price than what it costs buying with points.

DrunknMunky Veteran Posted April 8, 2009 Veteran Share Posted April 8, 2009 The only reason I'd use this would be to gift a game/DLC to someone. Or I could just buy them points and they can pick what they like.

+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted April 8, 2009 Subscriber² Share Posted April 8, 2009 Well the European whining is annoying at times. (definitely not a reason to avoid the forum though ) Remember when you're saying Europe you're not saying the UK - You're discussing a large collection of countries all with different languages and licensing laws. It may or may not come our way, but it's understandable why it's hit America first.
Smigit
typical UK getting screwed once again It's hardly the "UK" getting screwed over. Only the US is getting it so it's not like they signaled you guys out. Hell I'm sure we wont be getting it before the UK. And I don't see the big problem anyway when you can buy the games on the console itself or Xbox Marketplace.
BajiRav
I have absolutely no idea why I'd use this over turning on my xbox and buying something (outside of gifts), but more choice is better I guess. I am hoping that I can buy directly off Amazon by paying in $$ than the Microsoft points. :/ I haven't checked the store yet though. If nothing else, we can always hope for those occasional sales. LingeringSoul
I'm used to the American version of Amazon being far superior to the Canadian version, so that no longer affects me. As for the actual article, I think it's pretty cool. The fact that they basically give you a code to redeem should make it easier to give an XBLA game to somebody as a gift. Personally, I don't find the point system to be a huge pain, since like one of the posters here said, you're not really losing anything (even if you have a point total in your account that is too small to be used, those excess points will accumulate over time anyways), but if this option was available in Canada, I would definitely use it. George P Global Moderator Posted April 10, 2009 Global Moderator Share Posted April 10, 2009 It seems to me this would be up to Amazon to bring outside the US and not so much MS. MS itself wouldn't care at this point since they'll get their cut of the money regardless. If anything this opens it up to even more dlc and games being sold because now you add gifts into the mix. It's a smart business move in the end.
