I've been using a little app called removewatermark since a few builds back and it's always worked perfectly. if you want it, you can pm me.

Tinkering with something that works fine with a beta key is just going to give you a "windows is not genuine" message...

noobs...

you can remove the watermark without recieving any type of "windows is not genuine" message. so I don't know what your talking about (noob)

Are you always that nice?

Anyway, there are a lot of reports about people getting problems with their validations a random time after they patched the watermark out.

I still don't see the point in patching it out. Does it bother you that much?

Heres a 100% working watermark removing tool for windows 7 x64 (tested with 7057 x64 and 7077 x64).

1) Disable UAC

2) Run Watermark.exe as administerator

3) Wait till it asks you to press enter

4) Restart

5) Enjoy Watermarkless windows :p

Oh great, another retarded "disable UAC" post.

Big tip to readers: Anytime you see "disable UAC" mentioned anywhere, stop reading.

It's beta, why do you care? You are supposed to be testing it and not caring about some text on the corner of the desktop. Do you actually look at your desktop that much?

Oh, great, another user who's infernally convinced that UAC is a wonderfully amazing thing.

Big tip to readers: Use your own judgement, like we've been doing since Windows 95.

UAC is a helluva lot better than nothing. Secures the computer from malware abusing admin control. Without UAC, a worm could spread throughout your computer in seconds, as in Windows XP.

*sigh*

One of these days you UAC-dependant people will learn what Comodo Firewall is, along with the meaning of realtime anti-virus scanning.

Okay? Maybe I don't like running a 50mb+ memory program in the background that is hardly reliable.

Also, COMODO doesn't cover your registry and several other system components. Teatimer does, but that's yet ANOTHER program to run. I'll take UAC over the two any day thankyouverymuch.

Hardly reliable? 50 MB? What, you're so used to what you think is right, you're pulling facts out of thin air?

I use BOTH on my desktop without UAC and have never had a virus or malware issue on it in 3 years. And combined memory usage was only 45 Megs.

Someday, you people will just learn what common sense is. Even with a standard AV, you can easily use a computer day-to-day without worrying about UAC or other problems.

I have no problems with UAC, and AV doesn't work if it doesn't know something is malware. An AV won't detect a program deleting winlogon.exe, UAC will.

I really lawled at this thread. I'm not sure why you'd want to remove that watermark, I mean, heaven forbid to see two tiny lines of texts that's so freaking intrusive.

It's called customization, you should take a look at it. If i don't want a watermark ruining my wallpaper which is supposed to be seamless and textless, I'll get rid of it, that simple.

I don't know anything about messing up activation or whatever, that's NEVER happened to me.

If you really just want to show off the fact that you have the latest beta version of 7, just go Start> type winver. Done.

[sarcasm]

Heaven forbid that we as users want our desktop to show up the way want it to. After all, it's not like we've been doing that for the better part of 10 years now, tweaking and customization. [/sarcasm]
