Wireless Controller Issue

Recommended Posts

This is the second controller that this has happened to.

This is what happened:

I plugged in my wireless controller to charge. I plugged it in and saw the red light indicating that it was low on battery and charging. Soon thereafter, about five to ten seconds later, it turned green, saying it was 3/4 bars charged. Well this seemed fishy so i unplugged it only for it to turn off. So i left it sit there for a while anyway to charge even if it said it was charged. But it only lasted about 10 seconds before it died again. So the battery wasn't charging.

So the first time I concluded that it must just be a defective battery and i would just have to replace it. I later confirmed this when i got a new controller and switched battery packs and tried to charge it and it charged.

However, now my new controller's battery pack is doing the same thing that the old one did. And now its getting old and it is ****ing me off. I contacted Microsoft but no answer yet.

Anyone have any idea what may be going on and if there is a way to fix it?

I've had this issue several times, as well as my parents with their Xbox, and my boyfriend with his, and his little brother with his. I'm sure it's pretty common, but none of us have tried contacting Microsoft, so I'm not sure if it's something they'll replace or not. I'll have to keep an eye on this thread to see what others say, though.

Both my battery packs have done this.

I just kept unplugging the play & charge kit from the controller everytime it lied to me and turned green, and after about 4 or 5 trys it stayed red and happily charged.

Same here too. It seems to actually charge if I plug it improperly (just enough in so it doesn't fall out). And that if I'm not in a game.

This actually worked for me! Thank you so much!
