Estimated ETA on 10.5.7?

Recommended Posts

I can't wait. I am waiting for it to come out before I buy my macbook.

Maybe someone can fill me in if I'm wrong, but since it's just a point update you'll have to install it yourself. I don't think it'll come from the factory with it installed. Unless that's what you meant, then I apologize.

I just found that if you try to install the most recent x11 implementation, released today, the installation will stop because it needs 10.5.7

We need to remember that x11 for OS X is developed by Apple so this can be considered a direct indicative.

Edit: Seems that the x11 update was released a couple of days ago, not today. The updated appeared today for me, sorry for the mistake.

I don't know what's with this update, what is the big deal or what's special about it, i have no idea what is fixing either, but for some reason i've been waiting and waiting for this and i am getting very impatient now LOL

For me I think its due to me being so used to Microsoft's constant updates for everything that I get nervous having got wait for months for them to be 1 big download instead of many small ones.

MS gives all the patches out then rolls them into a SP+(a few other performance/security updates), Apple ONLY gives the SP's, I feel like I'm just never fully patched on a Mac except the day I install a new SP.

Am I the only one who noticed the redundancy in the title of the thread? "Estimated Estimated Time of Arrival". Kind of like "ATM machine".

Point releases aren't the only available updates. They do issue security updates separately if needed: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1222

That's not true. Apple also releases security updates from time to time when needed. They just tend to need a lot less of them.

Only if its a huge hole, or a major issue. Microsoft releases everything, Drivers, small updates, large patches, small things that aren't needed but recommended....

Mac OS X 10.5.7 9J60 Seeded to Developers

Despite yesterday's claim that Apple is targeting Friday as the release date for Mac OS X 10.5.7, Apple has seeded developers with a new build (9J60) according to World of Apple with seed notes reporting only one known issue: the Safari 4 Beta will not install on 10.5.7.

We're not sure if this means it's less likely that Apple may reach the rumored Friday goal.

Not here in Oregon 14:57 but I am not worried. It will come down the "pipes" when it is ready. OS X is running fine the way it is on my end anyway. :)

I don't see what the fuss is about either. Unless 10.5.7 ships with a new Safari 4 build then I'm not particularly bothered. My MacBook hasn't crashed for months.

10.5.6 has been very solid for me as well. I'm sure others have their problems but I can't imagine .7 doing much different.

Save for all the goodness Snow Leopard will bring, I think Leopard is just as rock-solid as Tiger at this point.
