iobilly there's a download section. There you can choose from 3 languages and there is slipstream images, hotfixes and sp2 for xp sp1 and below.

Moe it's probably a problem with a printer, try unplugging your printers, but before you do so it's crucial you send a bug report.

There are no printers plugged in.

Its just happened again now with only IE left open.

I walked away and came back five mins later and it does it again.

Moe Szyslak,

The issue only affects some and not all printers. This fixes most issues... If you are an official tester there is an update available- Go back to the Download Section and then Look in the folder labled updates.

The filename is WindowsXP-KB834004-x86-Beta-ENU.EXE

did anyone else have a severe slowdown problem with XP SP2?

I installed SP2 2055 and after a few reboots opening programs

was dragging like a dead dog's tail and I could literally count the minutes until

my computer was fully booted to desktop

does the update mentioned above fix this as well?

I'm still waiting for a response back from the beta team

The only problems I had with SP2 where : msn messenger would sometimes tranfer files really slow & I'd get that click here thing & sometimes it would be Fast :) & When I uninstalled SP2 Remote Assistance wouldnt work right. I mean it would start up & then say Remote Assistance failed please try again later. I just did a clean install of Windows XP w/sp1 and msn is tranfering fast again & no more problems *I tried everything I could think of to fix the problem.* Now here's the thing I forwarded the ports for msn messenger on my routor & turned on Upnp & this was with sp1 everything was working wonder. When I installed SP2 beta it sometimes tranfered fast & sometimes gave me the click her thing.

I haven't had many problems so far with SP2 installed from my slipstreamed disc and with the updates from WU. From what I gather around the community, how you install it makes differences. I slipstreamed SP2 into an original XP CD, that is, it didn't have SP1 in it already. When I installed SP2 on an already loaded SP1 system, I had a lot of slowness problems. My only big problem so far is that ICF doesn't work quite right. Even after I had whitelisted Starcraft, my roommates weren't able to join our UDP LAN game until I completely disabled ICF. So far, I really like the changes.

well when I had the slowdown problems before I had used the express

install .. but since I'm an official beta tester now I got the full update CD

I thought using the express vs. the update cd I downloaded earlier might

have had something to do with it ... not sure really tho

hopefully it doesn't happen again .. I don't have a non-slipstreamed copy of XP

on hand or know anyone else that has one....ooops

but there are some new January critical updates that I didn't have available to me

on my last SP2 install so maybe those updates took care of that .. (once again) I hope

should I download the SP2 integrated XP Pro iso just to be on the safe side?

A question for which they use SP2 beta... I have it installed in my PC that have Internet by cablemodem (i am chilean, i use VTR-Globalcom ISP). The problem is that in this sometimes I can't use any browser (IE or Firewall), the Messenger works to me but I can't use any browser, tries to connect but it throws DNS error or time out error. Soon I prove restarting with another Windows (without SP2) in my PC and works all good.

Some idea?

Nobody know my problem?

That's a judgement call, I guess. Does it make a difference to slipstream SP2 onto an original copy of XP versus XP SP1? I donno. It just causes me less cognitive dissonance that way. I think the updates help things too. I wasn't able to download a couple of the updates from WU (updates 7 & 8 , I believe?), but I managed to find the errors in tracelog and get direct links to the update files, rather than through WU. I've had no problems with things other than ICF so far.

ALL: It doesn't look like another leak of SP2 will emerge until Microsoft successfully incorporate Concurrent sessions into a build. When that will be?. Only Bill Gates knows.

Keep checking www.neowin.net for updates.

Creamhackered just put this up onto the main page:

Exclusive - Windows XP SP2 Beta Build 2077 Screenshots

We've had the chance to take a look at a newer beta build of Windows XP SP2 than the current beta 1 (build 2055) that testers have been given. One of the biggest things we've noticed is the addition of a "Security Center". It seems all the work for PC satisfaction trial wasn't wasted since it is now included with Windows XP SP2 in a slightly lighter form. The build carries the tag Build 2600.xpsp.040207-1502 : Service Pack 2, v.2077) and includes a new WMP9 build (3116) and updated Outlook express/Internet explorer versions. However, it doesn't seem like some of the new icon changes are in effect in this beta build. We're still expecting a new build to be released to testers within the week but there are rumours that RC1 will be released around March 4th. Check out the screenshots below.

I have updated the Front page to reflect this... But soon, very soon BETA2... I still expect the final to be out around May 2004, unless something huge needs changing.

Leebobs :D

    • Then the solution is to not let children have easy access to smart phones or internet until they are older, not mass surveillance. Only this would require parents to do actual parenting, most likely, as with any good solution to the problem.

    • Minecraft is getting a Switch 2 native version with the Vibrant Visuals graphics upgrade by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Microsoft's block-based sensation Minecraft is available on an astounding number of platforms, including PC, consoles, and mobile devices. Today, during the Nintendo Direct livestream, another version was announced, this one aimed at the Nintendo Switch 2 console. This native edition will use the new hardware's horsepower to finally bring the Vibrant Visuals graphics upgrade to players on the platform. While Nintendo Switch 2 players have been able to jump into Minecraft since the console's launch, this has only been via the backward-compatible original Switch version. With this new upgrade, players will be able to fully utilize the new hardware to run the game better and with new features. For those unfamiliar with it, the Vibrant Visuals upgrade landed earlier this year on PC (Bedrock), Xbox, PlayStation, and mobile platforms with the Chase the Skies update. This brought volumetric lighting, directional lighting, volumetric fog, and other elements to the sandbox title, letting players see aspects like sun rays, dynamic shadows, reflections in water, and shine on metallic blocks. "Survive the night or create a work of art in the iconic sandbox game," says Nintendo. "Build anything you can imagine, uncover mysteries, and face foes in an infinite world that’s unique in every playthrough." The Nintendo Switch 2 version of Minecraft seems to be a paid upgrade, as Nintendo says anyone who purchases this version will be able to carry over their save data from the original Switch version. Pricing details were not announced today, however. Meanwhile, the Nintendo exclusive Super Mario Mash-Up Pack will be available to all buyers of this version too, giving them a custom Mario-themed world as well as skins and tracks inspired by the series. The Nintendo Switch 2 version of Minecraft will be releasing sometime in 2026.
