Lilrich
Hey Guys, I am now looking for an alternative to iphoto, what do you use to manage your pictures?

EmbraceNext
I am using iPhoto but am thinking of ditching it. I want to find a way to sync more than one library. I used iphoto library manager and it is not so good. I can't find another solution. My lib is 35gigs and putting that on a NAS device is SO SLOW. suspiria
iPhoto is more than enough for me. Considering how much I actually use my DSLR anything more than that would be overkill...
PyX
iPhoto would be really totally perfect for me if : 1. It had a better red eye patch tool (not just one that makes the interior of the circule saturated at 0%) 2. It didn't create a special file / folder containing the whole database. I mean, it's almost impossible to drill down the folders to find a specific picture. They could do like iTunes, where my structure is /Music/ArtistName/AlbumName/SongName.mp3, and create a separate file with this whole database. I think 2 also applies to Aperture. So right now, honestly, I'm creating a /Images/ folder and I'm using Preview.app to redimension them, and Finder to delete them and to create my own /Images/EventName/ImageName.png structure. Sometimes specific tools for Red Eye correction.
giga Veteran Posted July 18, 2009 Veteran Share Posted July 18, 2009 I think 2 also applies to Aperture. Aperture gives you the choice to manage your own referenced library.

EmbraceNext
Aperture gives you the choice to manage your own referenced library. If that is the case then can you use rsync or some other directory syncing utility to keep them up to date on 2 different computers? Also (I know this may be stupid so forgive me if it is) since it is an apple product, does it integrate with the iLife apps?
allannyholm
I voted iPhoto, because this is where I keep all the pictures that I take with my iPhone camera and digital camera. I also use the Pictures folder for all my wallpapers as well a copy of the pictures in my iPhoto library.
