BoDEAN
I'm trying to get into Halo 3. Just not sure about what the most popular online game mode is for this game? Seems like the only game I ever join or see a lot of activity in is the "beginner" mode that usually has 6 people, and only 3 active playing it. I have yet to get any map packs for the game, as I am trying to muck through all the various online modes. Any insight or help would be appreciated. Olemus
All of the game modes in halo 3 are pretty active but they all require the free maps as a minimum. (Heroic map pack I think)
Smashing Pumpkin
Yeah, you need to download Cold Storage (free map) and the Heroic Map Pack (free) to access most playlist games. Social Slayer is very popular and very standard Halo gameplay. At the moment I'm playing Big Team Social a lot (8v8 Slayer/Objective based games). I havn't played Halo 3 online for ages, but just got a gold membership t'other day so I'm really getting back into it, it's great. just a heads up, once you rank up to a certain level the beginner playlist is unavailable (Y)

Nerve
Any beginner should stay clear of the Hardcore playlist, mainly MLG, unless they want to be destroyed by competitive/skilled players and teams.
Smashing Pumpkin
Beginners, once qualified through the beginner playlist, may wish to play in a lot of team based games to up their skill, that way you can sort of lean on your other team members and the pressure is not all on you!
