Global Agenda MMO

Saw this on Steam Community official game groups and applied for the upcoming closed beta. I'm really curious as to how this kind of a game will play out, especially using the UE3 engine and all.

So far it doesn't look as if much information about the game is out aside from what's on the front page there.

Update: Look for Global Agenda at E3!

That does look interesting, though I'm not overly big on team play.

I have been waiting for a FPS MMO for a while, hopefully they have a free trial/open beta at some point.

Huxley is what you may be looking for then, unfortunately there's no solid info on when it's supposed to come out in English.

last i heard, huxley has dynamic loading levels, like grand theft auto-style no loading screens and no seperate levels... does this Global Agenda have the same feature?

Huxley's been delayed and delayed and delayed again and again. :(

I've been waiting for Huxley, but I too have signed up for the beta of this a while ago.. but dang, I just keep getting spam mail from them. :(

Apparently they are infact hoping to have an open beta at one point. Hopefully I won't have to recreate my screen name from when/if I get into the closed beta.

Huxley is little more than Unreal Tournmanet with persistent stats and characters really :D

If you wanna test out a UE3 powered MMOFPS Recon415, you can always sign up and play Parabellum (http://parabellum.xg1.net/), if you sign up now you have just as high as a chance as someone who signed up 6 months ago to test it. And they are always adding new players to the test pool for it. It certainly doesn't look as nice as Huxley does though, but it is still UE3 powered (and will be F2P as well).

Thanks for the tip, LOC. Looks pretty good, signed up. Hopefully it won't be another Combat Arms.

Unfortunately, I am more interested in the kind of gameplay that Global Agenda promises to bring. I'm not to big on Counter Strike style gameplay. It's too fast paced and takes alot more reflexes than thinking. GA looks like it will be more of a strategic shooter, involving alot more teamplay and tactics. With clans...err... agencies being a major part in the game I'm willing to bet it will involve alot more pre-game planning instead of the usual drop in and deathmatch quick game finding. I have really high hopes for this game. I really need find a way to get off Team Fortress 2 :p

Not to mention that the weapons aren't modern and realistic. I won't waste my time with it. Waiting for OFP2 and/or ArmA2.

I like how they make it out the game to have amazing, new concepts: "Imagine you are holding a point, that could provide new technology and the other team is coming for you". Its like: "Wow" just like mmos have been doing for the last 10 years then.

But the game looks good, reminds me of Planetside.

Signed up for the beta and had the opportunity to play it.

All I can say is I have finally found a game that fullfills my gaming needs. Ridiculously fun PvP, kinda like Tribes meets TF2. Thanks for the heads up Recon.

I've been in playing GA since alpha testing, currently in beta testing, not sure why this thread is filled with posts about huxley though, i haven't had the chance to play it but from looking at the gameplay, they are completly different games.

Personally i find GA a very fun game though.

Hmm 2 posts... Joined today? I smell PR mole!

Maybe :p

Yeah we missed you in CBT1 Recon. For those just running in to this thread. please give GA a shot if you get the chance. I've had 1 or 2 people say they didnt like it for XYZ, but they were personal genre issues, not gameplay or style.

As for Huxley, well I havnt played it and dont intend to for 1 reason: There are no centralized servers. The game gets served by one of the players in the map with you as i understand it, so if somone across the country on a crappy computer is hosting you get horrible lag. Not to mention the security issues with p2p hosting. So maybe if they change that ill consider giving it a shot, but not likely considering im still jonsing for more GA.

Alright. Today was the last day of CBT 1B. Over the course of 3 days, I spent 30 hours testing.

To be completely honest, I think it's amazing. Obviously any game in beta has its problems, hence the purpose of having a beta. There were some serious balancing issues, none went unnoticed by the developers.

The Dome city (social area) is erm.... cool and easy to get around (can't really say much more under this stupid NDA).

One thing I was incredibly amazed at was the amount of content they released along with the beta. There were 5 different, unique PvP missions (maps) and at least 3 variations of 3 different PvE missions (one for each difficulty). And despite all this, I can quote one of the developers saying that what was included was only approximately 10% of the final content.

The gameplay was solid, in my opinion. It was a bit like TF2, except more dynamic and larger, more open maps. Each class had its own unique set of abilities, you could play supportive or assault no matter what class (sounds weird but works out great). Another thing I absolutely loved about the game was that your rewards are based on whether or not your team wins, rather than how high your KDR is.

I'm sorry I couldn't go deep into details as I am under a Non Disclosure Agreement as part of my testing, although there is something I can say:

It's a great game?

And for those of you who are clueless as to what I just said, it's a little thing testers like to say to outsiders when they can't go further without breaking the ND:p:p
