SMELTN
I voted no, because just like everyone else, I don't see M$ changing the look much from what we have.. What I DO see them doing is allowing more theme color choices, and wallpaper/screen savers, that they will/could call a different THEME.. Remember back with old XP, we had that XP extra's or whatever it was, where it had a baseball theme, and a train theme, space theme, etc.. They all had different cursor's/colors/icons/sounds/wallpapers/screen savers.. If anything I could see M$ doing something like that again with 7, maybe not that extent but a similar concept. Digitalx
quite honestly imo i think they should just reinstate basic from 6801 It may look like vista but looks much better then blue superbar. and obviously fix up a few other things like menu bars so the suit the interface. Ji@nBing
I could totally see them having a new basic theme, but I think the current Aero glass one is going to stay pretty much the same all the way to RTM.
l Ancient l
heh... instead of "Will Windows 7 feature a new theme?" I think you should make it "Would you like to see a new theme in Windows 7?". Because this is technically pointless, since no one knows will there be a new theme or not and everyone is just guessing... ;)
Ricardo Gil
Because this is technically pointless, since no one knows will there be a new theme or not and everyone is just guessing... ;) How is that different from every other W7 thread? I don't think a new theme will appear. Maybe a tweaked version, but nothing major.

Yusuf M. Veteran Posted April 21, 2009 Veteran Share Posted April 21, 2009 If anything, it'll be a tweaked version of Aero. That, and some more colour presets.
KeeperOfThePizza
They need to get rid of the glass in my opinion, It's the only thing that resembles Vista.. or than that Vista is nothing like Windows 7 and with Vista having a bad rap you would think they would want to keep Windows 7 far away from Vista. Glass is here to stay. That is one thing they will NOT get rid of. No need to get rid of it as there is already an option to turn it off by using Basic. mikee286
I doubt there will be an official theme change but as always there are plenty of actual themes that can be downloaded from places like deviantart, interfacelift and such so I'm not worried. Adolf
They should remove that horrible taskbar, and get back the vista theme... Yeah.. So it's just like a faster Vista, without all the new bs.
-KJ
Unfortunately, implementing the color customization options and such are probably enough of a reason for Microsoft not to implement another theme. A radical new theme could also lessen Windows' Aero identity. If anything, I think they can mimic the look of Aero better in Basic. Have the buttons cling to the top edge of the window frame, etc. Maybe having the option to select different Basic colors could be realized, much like how you can change the Luna skin's color in XP to Olive or Silver. -- So new alpha-transparent theme (Aero-ish)? Maybe. But only one over the other, and I doubt they would have a new theme if they constantly polish the current one in W7. New Basic theme? I would think so. Have it mimic Aero without the transparency and give the users the ability to change to preset colors (Silver, Graphite, Green, Orange, etc). They added color option to their XP theme so I don't see why they can't do the same for Basic.

The Aero graphical user interface is a clean and more aesthetically pleasing than Windows XP's Luna theme.
rakeshishere
Even addition of new theme will still make it look the same since its just the Aero style which will be modded a bit and people would not go crazy over it

A new theme would have to look clearly different, and I don't see that happening.

DiEMOS
no way, they've been tweaking auro for way to long. They've also put a lot of emphasis on the themes, with rotating wallpapers and etc. so 99% there wont be any new UI.
ToneKnee
Just to elaborate or something. Microsoft's definition of 'themeing' has already been implemented in a sense that if you download a wallpaper back etc, it changes the colours and so of the Aero to suite the wallpaper. Yeah but most are all crappy. Some dumb fish, flowers etc. What they need to do is bring back the old style of the windows 98 plus pack themes I swear, I wonder if the person in charge of these silly ideas is still single and lives with his mother. You can create your own themes. They can include (a) wallpaper(s), sound schemes (with sound files), and cursors (with files). Maybe also screensavers, not sure about that. You can understand creating fancy themes with cursors and sounds etc isn't really Microsoft's priority. They were only added in Win98 Second Edition too...
