ToneKnee
Change Log: The beta for testing the new 1.50 update for Battlefield 2 is now available for everyone who want to help out and test the new patch. It contains a new map, Operation Blue Pearl, along with a number of security updates. The beta will be running for at least a couple of weeks, to give the developers enough time to gather feedback from the beta testers (and hopefully make changes if that?s needed). IceBreakerG
Hmmm, may have to install Battlefield 2 again on my Vista install. Haven't really played the game in a while, but if I can play it at 1920x1080 that'd be awesome. I put a lot of time into this game lol. On another note, I can't believe they're actually still releasing updates for this game. That's nice.

IceBreakerG
Also, I just watched the video for that Novint pistol grip controller. That thing is pretty sweet, and for only $20, the price is definitely right. Does anybody here have any experience with it? I may order one if it works as well as it looks in the video. Coldgunner
Yay, have they added rumoured no-cd support?
Draaku
I've been playing on Vista64 for a couple years, no problems here. I too wonder what fix they are talking about for Vista...I'm glad they removed the need to have cd in tray to launch game.

ToneKnee
geez after how long however i've kinda lost faith in that game. they really need to make a new improved version all together. This is EA we're talking about here, of course you'll buy a game, feel robbed then feel the need to buy the next, better, improved version of the game. Then the cycle happens again until EA stop making profit, then they move on to the next game.

Nagisan
ive been playing BF2 under vista and windows 7 x64bit! you need to manully update it yourself! I dont see why you would run it under Windows 7......PunkBuster has some issues with win7 that are only temporarily fixable (must be re-done every time you run the game). Aside from that.....I wonder what exactly they fixed for Vista. I have a machine that has ran BF2 fine in the past, but upon reinstalling Vista (x64) to get a fresh install, BF2 installed with the latest patch (1.41, not 1.5) and the latest version of PB (manually updated) it has random crashes during gameplay. The game plays fine for like 5 minutes, next thing you know your sitting on your desktop with no crash dialog, no Event Viewer entries, nothing that would help in debugging. Don't know what causes it, it worked fine before, reinstalling BF2 doesnt help (already done that about 5 times), it always happens only after you have been on a server playing for about 5 minutes....never lasts any longer and never crashes until your in a game. Hopefully 1.5 will fix that and other random oddities that happen in BF2 on Vista x64.

Mouldy Punk
Relatively recently, I fired up the game again. It looks very dated by modern standards now - but it was a great game back in t' day. Hopefully this new patch will breath new life into it and it'll be fun again.
Yusuf M. Veteran Posted April 23, 2009 Veteran Share Posted April 23, 2009 Has anyone had any success with Battlefield 2 in Vista 64 bit? I'm Hoping this patch allows me to finally install the game. I haven't had any issues installing or playing Battlefield 2 on Windows Vista Ultimate x64 w/ SP1. The only problems I came across were issues with PunkBuster. Then again, those issues were easily fixed with a manual PunkBuster update. That and having to run the game in administrator mode. I'm curious to know what they mean by "Additional support for Windows Vista." The added support for widescreen resolutions is welcomed, but somewhat late. Master Shake
I installed the patch last night but I couldn't join any servers!! And I mean servers that are updated with this patch. :-(
IceBreakerG
I installed the patch last night but I couldn't join any servers!! And I mean servers that are updated with this patch. :-( I had the same problem. When I was able to join a server, I'd wait for the game to load only to see about 2secs of the game before I got kicked/disconnected. I manually updated PunkBuster, but I didn't try running the game as administrator. I may try it again later on today.

I've never had any trouble playing Battlefield 2 under Windows Vista 64-bit even before this patch was released. No difference afterwards, plays fine.
