Silent Hill Homecoming

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know why Silent Hill has been delayed yet again in Australia? The PS3 version was released around a month ago and there is another 3 week delay here.

Any feedback appreciated :)

btw, I know the Australian laws are pathetic.

It's a great game. Very much like SH2 - but it's insanely hard. :p

Don't ever tarnish that masterpiece by comparing it to SH5 :|

Well, the gameplay is a lot like SH2. Just how much of Homecoming have you played? :p

I'm about halfway through - it's very similar. I didn't like SH3, and definitely not 4... but 5 is a great release.. purely because it's more like SH2 than the others.

Silent Hill was and will always be about story.

The story in SH5 blows and is in no way a smudge on SH2.

That's my point :p

Yeah the story blows, but it plays well. If you know anything about the horror genre you should know that story is always rubbish! XD

Actually story is one thing the horror genre managed to do pretty well in the past, which "excused" the horrible tank controls usually tied to survival horror games.

Nowadays some of the old Survival Horror classics like RE have ditched emphasis on horror/story and are away on 100% action, so SH the other big contender was left to carry the weight. Unfortunately western devs tried to make SH5 more action focussed (RE style aiming) and in the process also butchered the story/atmosphere/character development. I don't give a **** about the main protagonist in SH5, in the earlier games I did.

SH2 had a great oppressive story line.

The only Survival Horror game this year so far in my eyes has been Siren, although the story in that wasn't anything as good as say SH2, it stuck to being a survival horror game and done it well.

I meant horror in general - movies and games. Most of them are always shockingly poor. There isn't a single horror movie that's been in the box office for many years which was any good. :[

They are more about action - the whole genre is evolving. Not just for horror video games. The movies are more action orientated now also. They're more about dumb 'shock' moments rather than suspense.

I guess thats just how things are.

Konami don't make Siren, Sony Team Japan do.

And fair enough, I prefer atmosphere/story in my horror titles, which I personally got more of in Siren than SH5.

The games are pretty evenly matched on metacritic

SH5 - 70 - http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/...360/silenthill5

Siren - 78 - http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/...sirenbloodcurse
