Any way to LEGIT backup a game?

Recommended Posts

I'm no newbie, and am not trying to break any rules, but is there any way that i can create a copy of my FIFA09 disc short of buying another? It is damaged and only works 10% of the time, and when it does work it, at times, hangs in the middle of gameplay.

I've googled but nothing really helpful comes up, too many sketchy programs.

And the free-er the better :)

You can use several tools for that.

Daemon Tools is one of them. Alcohol 120% does the same thing.

These two are good if you like to copy the disc preserving the copy protection so you could emulate that afterward using DT.

DT comes in several flavours. DT Pro Advanced ed is offered as an evaluation version for 20 days and costs ?39.90

If you'd like a more permanent FREE solution you can very well use DT Lite.

See here!Daemon Tools Lite. It does the same thing as DT Pro without a few options.

Needless to say they are Windows 7 compatible.

Just so the poster knows, none of these methods so far will allow the console to use the new disk without modding.

And hard drive makes it faster.

I suggest the hard drive method as a short term fix. In the long run I would recommend sending an email to the publisher of the game and ask them if you could get a new disc by mailing them the old damaged one.

Yeah, installing to the hard drive worked for me unless my disc was severely scratched. The only other way I can think of is to rent it and send back yours. But that's not legal i think.

^ Thats still stealing and if it's severely scratched the shop would probably charge him for it anyway, As for making a legal backup sure you can, but you would need to mod your xbox to actually use it which is against the Xbox Live Terms of use.

Try copying it to your HD like suggested and look after your discs :p

There's nothing wrong with renting and using that disk to copy it to your 360 hard drive ... hopefully your damaged disk can at least get the game booted.

Well I have it on my HD now and even though I have to try a few times to get my 360 to recognize the disk, I can at least play the game smoothly now which is more than I could before! thanks for the help :)
