Titoist
Note: This is my first "review" and it is fairly short since its just a remote. Nothing truly special. Story: Today I walked into EB Games (now Game Stop) and noticed a brand new XBox 360 Remote for $4. I couldn't resist and bought it only to be told that its actually $3, WOW! I knew it was brand new because it was still in its original packaging but the packaging was opened. So I got home and the remote blew me away at how easy it was to set it up. Performance: Just pressing the XBox button turned on my 360 and kept the other 360 in my brothers room off. As I found out, unlike other universal remotes that I have tried, this one will turn on anything you point it to. I am quite happy with my purchase and have even synched it with my TV. Since I use my 360 as a media center extender, I now only have two wires around my home theatre. The two power cords for the TV and the 360. Cable/Satellite is actually hooked up to my PC with a TV Tuner card and I use MediaCenter w/ Extender to watch my TV on my home theatre. No lag with either video nor audio. With an XBox controller it used to be an inconvenience but now I truly do live a wireless world and have "TiVo" at the same time :p. Implications: If anyone is contemplating getting the remote, I say it is worth it, especially if you can find it used. However, with a normal $29.99 pricetag it can be a hard decision. Brad.
I got the mini media remote bundled with my launch console. Never used it until 2 months ago when I decided to start streaming my videos etc. Works brilliantly!
____
The media remote is really nice, especially if you're using the 360 as an extender as the labeled buttons on the remote are much easier to use and have some buttons that aren't mapped to the controllers, the only downside that has led me to stop using it is that it uses AA batteries and not the easy to recharge battery packs that the controllers do. +Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted April 24, 2009 Subscriber² Share Posted April 24, 2009 Sweet price and it looks nicer (slimmer) than the PS3 media remote I had to pay like ?10 for:((
Remysaus
Do these always stay on? I hate it when I'm watching a movie on my 360 and my controller turns itself off after a few minutes of inactivity so I have to reconnect when I need to pause the movie. >_<

Just point and click, that easy.
Brad.
There is no reconnection. Just point and click, that easy. It also doesn't drain the batteries due to the fact it uses the IR port and not a constant wireless connection. Basically a TV remote :p
ahhell
Uh...hasn't this remote been out as long as the 360 been available??? What's the point in reviewing it now?

Titoist
Well before I wrote this thread I actually did try to find a time machine, unfortunately they stoped making them after the 1989 incident.
Sethos
It's quite a sturdy little thing as well, accidentally knocked over a coke bottle and soaked the poor thing, it's still working perfectly.

Indeed, it's been knocked off my top shelf many times by my cat and not one mark has been left :)

Smashing Pumpkin
I use the windows media remote that came with XP MCE. Works alright with 360, you got the OK for A, Back for B, Guide for Y, and Channel down for X, I'm pretty sure it's like that. It also turns it on and off, and has your normal media buttons, play, rewind etc. Suppose a 360 Remote would be nice, but just uneccessary cost, however small. DELTETHISACCOUNT
I bought the remote so that I could attempt to control the music volume in-game. It doesn't do that. So it's a waste of money. Cause I don't even use WMC. Cause I don't have it. *Single tear.*
