Quickcam Driver kills Windows 7

Recommended Posts

I can definitely confirm that not only is logitech driver is incompatible but seems to kill windows 7, after installing it, I got TONS of werfault.exe application error (where it says the memory could not be read) and no other windows or any other application loads and just gives similar application.

So don't even try it. this happened in 7077 and 7100

Something's really buggered up with Dell's Quickcam for Notebooks driver. It kept freezing all my web browsers while I was running on battery power.

Until Dell or Logitech releases an updated driver, I can do without a webcam.

Logitech has several models of QuickCam (I have the Communicate STX, which is supported directly by Vista and 7 64-bit; in fact, not only do both operating systems auto-detect it, they will even go out and fetch/install the drivers if there's an Internet connection available); which model is giving you grief? (Oddly enough, I got my Communicate STX from "Microsoft" as a TYVM for the original WLM beta.)

The 11.8 x64 drivers work fine in Windows 7 x64 (build 7077) with my QuickCam Pro 9000.

That^^^

I ran mine in compatible for Vista SP1 and as Admin. Not a single problem.

I had the same issue but I think its caused by the Quickcam software. I fixed it by just unzipping the application and manually installing the driver.

The software is installed along with the driver (for both Vista and 7); I've had no issues with either.

The model is literally called "Quickcam for Notebooks." I also have a Communicate STX that is automatically picked up by Windows Update on my desktop. That one's okay. But the custom webcam used on my XPS M1210 requires a driver from Dell.
