SlasherKG
I've run into an issue with PowerDVD 7.3 where it claims that I have an incompatible graphics driver when I attempt to play a HD-DVD or Blu-Ray. This previously worked fine with build 7000. I am using the same nVidia beta driver for Windows 7 as well as the same latest patch for PowerDVD that I had in the previous build. Anyone else seeing this? I have also tried a re-install of Windows 7 just to make sure that I didn't install something before that screwed it up. Why use powerdvd7 when Wnidows 7 has a built in DVD Codec for Media Player?
bob21
No problems with PowerDVD 9 here , Consider updating for a quick fix.
SlasherKG
Ok, I guess you guys didn't see the fact that I use it for HD-DVD and Blu-ray. So to Ravensky, WMP is out and to bob21, PowerDVD 9 no longer supports HD-DVD so that's a non-starter also. Thanks for responding though. It's weird that it worked fine in build 7000... I'm having this same problem, and just like you, it worked fine in 7000. The BD Advisor says everything, including the graphics driver, is fine, except that it can't detect which OS I'm using, but that doesn't explain why it spits out a graphics driver issue. I tried installing the latest nVidia driver as well as a Vista driver and no dice either way.
Ji@nBing
Maybe wait until XPM comes out (it's already leaked) and run it in that?
OZC
Maybe wait until XPM comes out (it's already leaked) and run it in that? Does XPM support hardware acceleration though? I don't know that a virutalized OS would be able to decode the HD stuff as well as it needs to be. Plus, I'll be inteersted to know how the codec integration works, because if XPM can't access the codecs installed in 7, it's going to be more trouble than it's worth. If this were my desktop, I wouldn't mind, but this is my living room media center.
happymonkey
As HD-DVD is now obsolete, you are going to have problems using them in the future as the format is simply not supported. My best advice is buy a standalone player to remove the worry about software incompatibilities. The next best thing is to trade-in your HD-DVDs for their BluRay version via the various schemes that are supposedly starting this year - Warner Bros. has already started their Red2Blu scheme. The next best thing is to trade-in your HD-DVDs for their BluRay version via the various schemes that are supposedly starting this year - Warner Bros. has already started their Red2Blu scheme. I'm well aware the format is dead and all, and I have a standalone player I could use if I wanted to. The way I see it is that it worked in an older build, and considering all the weirdness of codecs being disabled and such in the interim builds, there is most likely a way to get this to work. I won't give up on this until I've exhausted every option I can, or someone from MS or Cyberlink comes out and says that it's never going to work. The point is, I have a perfectly good HD DVD combo drive that I want to use if I have any way to. If I end up with no solution, I'll just go up to PowerDVD 9 and say to hell with the HD DVD playback. But what it comes down to it, just because the format is dead, doesn't mean my discs are going to suddenly stop working.

Guest neo7
Patch:http://docs.cyberlink.com/multi/patch/enu/...uildID=00008616 Useless-- doesn't work.
OZC
Useless-- doesn't work. Yeah, I just tried it too. Also, the XP Mode stuff isn't going to work since the virtual machine doesn't have access to hardware directly, and the odds of it simulating a supported GPU is slim. Add to that the fact that my CPU doesn't support Intel VT, which is needed to run the XP Mode.
daktari
powerdvd 9 failed me loading certain 1080p .iso's back in Vista. Guessing it still has that issue
SlasherKG
Yeah, I actually contacted Tech Support and they say it is not supported at this time... There is some hope they may come out with a patch as PowerDVD 8 recieved a patch for the EXACT same error and now works fine (although I don't use 8, and it still doesn't support HD-DVD). For good measure I also contacted LG support (makers of the drive I use) which PowerDVD 7.3 was supplied with. They replied that they are going to contact Cyberlink and see if they can come up with a resolution.

SlasherKG
Site says that build is for LG-ODD JB3 models only. May not have HD-DVD support. But let us know what you find.

Yeah, it didn't work, I don't recall the model of my drive but it said it wasn't for my drive so that was a no go too.
SlasherKG
As I expected. Also, installed the newer nVidia 185.81 drivers for Win7, no effect either, so it definitely doesn't seem to be a driver issue. I really hope Cyberlink comes through on this one... bellarooski
It could still be a driver issue, I am using a G43 based motherboard and can play both hddvds and blurays. However I am having serious audio syncing issues with audio drifting noticably out within a few minutes.

Xerxes
WMP doesn't play Blu-ray. Yet. I've heard a rumor sometime ago Win7 RTM will have native Blu-Ray support (I'm assuming that means Win7 version WMP12 will be able to play Blu-Ray out the box) but it is only a rumor so take with a grain of salt. I can understand the frustration, I too have a small HD-DVD collection that I'm perfectly happy with and wish to still enjoy. However, I also totally understand why CyberLink have abandoned it, there is no point supporting a dead format and we all must accept this. I still have my HD-DVD addon for the 360 so I'll continue to watch it on that. Personally I found CyberLink's HD-DVD support to be poor at best and it runs better on my 360 anyway even though the picture isn't as clear due to the VGA connection (non-HDMI 360). While I'm aware my post is completely unhelpful, I felt like sharing it anyway :p
