Restarted during a Crash, now my watermark is gone.

This is weird.

I just restarted during a crash (I was playing Left 4 Dead), and now my Watermark is gone.

My little proud watermark has disappeared.

I didn't install anything that would make it disappear or anything... All I did was change a wallpaper and try to install some critical updates (which I may mention gave me an error), but .. other than that..

My watermark has completely vanished!

What the heck?

Who cares?

Some of us do, its a status signal that we're testing 7 and a sense of pride.

It also might mean that 7 won't authorize correctly to upgrade when patches come out!

I think every man and his dog is using Windows 7 RC1 by now... :D

It is very, very possible that you have obtained a...less than legitimate copy of an already illegitimate leak. (the RC has not been officially released!) I'd reinstall with a more trustworthy source, or wait until the RC is actually properly released. There is absolutely no reason this would happen on a proper install.

I had this happen to me on a previous build (7068, I think). My PC crashed because of an incompatibility with a program I was trying to install and when I rebooted the watermark was gone.

First, there was happiness because I hate those little watermarks....but the next day there was much sadness because then I started getting "Your copy of Windows may not be genuine" in spite of me having my own legit Windows 7 beta key.

This may or may not happen to you. Just letting you know what the next 'little surprise' for you might be.

You shold look up the definition of "RC". Not final - yes, beta - no.

OK, sorry, i kinda meant that.

It's better said as a 'pre-release' product.
