qdave
Well iv'e just installed the latest build and for some reason internet is exceptionally slow. It doesnt go faster than 10 kb/s instead of 500kb/s which was max on vista. I did a fresh install and drivers are ok too. Any clues?
darkalchemist
Have you installed any antivirus/firewall? Eset Smart Security's firewall caused me problems till I turned it off. Not ideal so i've backdated for now. Trying to find a better solution...
devHead
Yeah I would make sure you have no other firewall software installed. Frankly, the firewall that comes with Windows now (since Vista) is good enough without running another one. I really wouldn't recommend installing a second one, especially if you have a router (which includes a hardware firewall).

donchen
Is it just slow or intermittent getting disconnected? I installed the Windows 7 RC and my internet is giving me hell lotsa problem. I get disconnected for maybe 5 - 10 secs and then it reconnects back... and after surfing for about 10 minutes... it gets disconnected for 5 - 10 secs again and so on. Someone else mentioned to install the LATEST driver for your network card and don't use the one Windows installed for you. Sorry if i am hijacking your thread. Just a quick question, does anyone know how to disable the auto installation of drivers in Windows 7 ? Everytime i uninstall a driver and reboot, Win 7 auto install back the driver but i want to install my own driver.

Medking
Maybe related: I just updated my current Windows 7 Build with the new updates available, and the internet speed in Chrome as well as the overall computer speed has decreased dramatically. I'm wondering what's caused it.... All of my applications seem to be lagging crazily, Chrome will not even load plug-ins, it sort of just gives up....and programs such as itunes are failing to start. It's bizarre....
lee31
Don't know if this has anything to do with it but as soon as I installed office 2007 sp2 and the 9 updates afterwards it slow mine right down until recently. I ran the diagnostic tool and when it said it couldn't find any errors I just closed it but I ran it again an hour later and clicked on the explore more options button and as soon as I did that the tool closed and everything turn backed to normal. Wierd I know.
