Windows7even
one, u must have a password on your user account...make sure remote desktop is enabled...make sure your firewall is set up to allow remote desktop port 3389 through....make sure your router is also configured to forward port 3389...if u have a static ip them all you have to do is type your ip in and it will ask you for the rest.if u have a dynamic ip then u need to use a service like dydns.org to create a hostname linked to your ip and then either set your router to update it or download thier tool to keep it updated...that pretty much covers the basics..if you have more than one computer u want to access u have to change the rd port number for each of them..its a bit technical but works good...a alternative is to use logmein.com...much simpler :)
jakem1
There are a couple of things you'll need to have setup. I'll also assume you want to connect to a home PC. First off, you'll need to know the external IP address for your router. It's best to have a static IP address but there are plenty of services that will help you if you have a dynamic address (e.g. dyndns.com, changeip.com, etc.) You'll then need to setup port forwarding on your router to point port 3389 to the PC you want to remote into. I'd suggest searching Google if you don't already know how to do this. Finally, you'll need to have setup your PC to accept remote desktop connections. To do this in Vista go into System properties (WIN+Pause/Break) click on the Advanced System Properties link and then select the Remote tab. Tick the Allow Remote Assistance Connections to this computer option and select the relevant Remote Desktop option (I have the second option selected.) Good luck :) Edit: Windows7even beat me to it
