jgreenough
This might have been covered elsewhere and if so i apologise but am i the only one that thinks there is an issue with wmp12 - i have lost count the number of times that i open wmp12 to find nothing in the library before the indexing kicks in and re-populates everything

jmc777
I've just installed the RC for the first time and this happened to me when I opened WMP for the 2nd time.
Monotremata
After years of iTunes I finally decided to give WMP a go last week and let it take care of my media for me. Ive noticed just about everytime I open it its got some sort of updating its doing. Even if the previous time I opened it, I let it sit there for hours and finish. Theres also some 'bugs' with it changing media information on me (after the checkbox to automatically do it was left unchecked) and renaming things here and there after Ive changed them. And album art. Ive noticed WMP likes to pick the last album I got art for, and everytime I try and find info on an album that comes up with nothing, it sticks that last albums art on its tracks. I did an import back into iTunes two days ago and ran mp3tag so it would embed all of the folder.jpgs into the actual files. I think I had about 10 albums that came up with the artwork for an album by a band called Om, even though the albums couldnt even find artist info on the internet. It was cool though, it found album art for stuff iTunes never could. Usually some of my rare out of print grindcore/deathmetal/noise stuff too.. Hopefully theyll get all the quirks straightened out cause I actually dug using it..
Beastage
Had that issue in 7000 but nothing since, maybe some issue with your music folder permissions? maybe the index settings need to be reset as well.
08993
I had this issue as well, In my case it was because I had nested libraries. For instance I had My Documents and then inside documents I had Music, Pictures & Videos folders. WMP didn't like that at all so I had to take the folders for Music, Pictures & Videos out of My Documents .
Preppy Veteran Posted May 7, 2009 Veteran Share Posted May 7, 2009 In the old version, I believe you would have needed to manually stop the Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service before resetting the library using that tool. I think this is fixed for the RC IIRC.

It's now decided it's not going to update either with new media I've added, even though it says it'[s doing so in the bottom right of the window. This was a problem in the official beta too, at least for me.
Pikey
I was getting this in a previous build .. it seems to be OK now in my x86 RC.
Lannister
Hmm, ok, well just realised that I've been running the 32bit version of Media Player on my 64bit install (can't say for 100% sure that the 32bit version is what was pinned to the taskbar by default or not, so have a check). Just fired up the 64bit version and it's immediately refreshed my library with the files I've added. EDIT: Just checked on the other half's desktop (also Win7 64bit) and it seems that by default it's pinning the 32bit version of Media Player to the taskbar,
