Or earlier, if you're a Technet/MSDN subscriber.

GusValentine
Indeed, Microsoft has already released a Windows 7 Beta to the general public, and will release a Windows 7 Release Candidate to the general public on the 5th of May 2009. They will also provide keys to activate it, which will allow you to use it for about a year(?).

sibot
Personally, I don't know. But as I see it, if your key is legit then download source doesn't matter. As long as you activate the Windows using YOUR key. So taking Win7 into consideration, I think it should be okay as long as you use your key or any of the 5 public beta keys. Its highly debatable though.
neufuse Veteran Posted April 28, 2009 Veteran Share Posted April 28, 2009 ... and where did you hear that from? The fact that it has RC'ed and the fact news stories have leaked that as the release date for BT's and the that BT's almost always get it before the public.. so deducing stuff isn't too hard :p btw how is it the only time I've ever seen a "partner" from MS post is when I post a date about a potential release that is based on deductions? sounds like someone knows something themselves that others dont :p
KeeperOfThePizza
I really dont see it at a big deal, Microsoft is still offering keys for it....

Those people however will be Technet/MSDN subscribers, and everyone who does not fall into one of those categories will not get the RC from Microsoft until May 5th. More from Microsoft HERE. GusValentine
The Windows Blog http://windowsteamblog.com/blogs/windows7/...ate-update.aspx "I?m pleased to share that the RC is on track for April 30th for download by MSDN and TechNet subscribers. Broader, public availability will begin on May 5th." So far I've only tried the official Windows 7 Beta and found it to be very stable; I was using it as my only OS, all of my hardware worked, as did most apps. I am quite sure the RC will be main OS worthy; I will format and install the RC as my only OS until Final is released...
sibot
I'm using RC as my main OS on my laptop and so far so good. No glitches all my Vista softwares work. Although, it wasn't able to automatically find my HP 3030 Laser Printer drivers but it did install the Scanner ones. I had to manually download them from the HP website (for Vista) and install them. Working A-Okay now.
