ADSfull
hi! Well this something that have make to not sleep well :D i Have installed windows 7 7077 x64 working flawlessly, i have read severals post about this 7100 RC release and i have notice some new issues like compatibility.. since there is nothing too new on 7100 according to 7077 just few new bugs, i was wondering if it's better get the 7100 since it will be a Public release and will have more fixes or more support also do you think the leaked 7100 will be the public 7100? maybe a 7100.1 since this 7100 don't have any feedback tool or anything looks more as a interim build to me but i don't know thanks in advance ADS
Gio Takahashi
You know, I haven't found any major different between 7100 and 7077, but then again I probably wasn't looking hard enough.
Marcus16
Is there a way to upgrade between the two, or do you need to do a reinstall?
Gio Takahashi
I dunno, I'd just rather do a full clean install. I find little point in upgrading between the next, when I plan on installing RTM from scratch. I was never keen with the idea of installing an OS that I will be using permanently for a couple of years from a beta, so, yeah.
Guest xiphi
It's better for me since unplugging the 360 controller no longer causes a BSOD. Everything has been great for me so far.
Quillz
I'd recommend installing 7100. You should always use the latest build available. Installing takes 15-20 minutes, plus a few extra minutes to back up any data. I don't see why you wouldn't do this.
Gio Takahashi
in case you haven't tried, using windows easy transfer is pretty helpful, but then again, when you do install, you still have access to the previous installation, including the user directories. It's really not much of a task. in case you haven't tried, using windows easy transfer is pretty helpful, but then again, when you do install, you still have access to the previous installation, including the user directories. scumdogmillionaire
the lack of the feedback tool is what's making me hold off until it hits my msdn. it could be as simple as that they have RC keys that they haven't released yet, which would enable the feedback tool. Lord Ba'al
Is there a way to upgrade between the two, or do you need to do a reinstall? You can upgrade from 7077 to 7100, but it's not recommended by MS.

Harbinger
Its extremely silly to upgrade instead of fresh installing. These versions of the OS are meant to be tested. Microsoft wants us to test fresh installations. If you upgrade from 70xx to 7100 and something goes to hell its easy for someone to assume that its the OS to blame without considering the upgrade might as well be responsible. Plus, if you do a fresh installation and something goes bad you know for sure its either the OS or drivers/software to blame. If you upgrade you'll never know if the old installation is causing problems or not.
Zarpraz
I don't think there's any problem with upgrading, MS even tell you how to, although a fresh install is preferable. The reason MS didn't allow you to upgrade the beta as standard was that it isn't a real world scenario for the retail version.

But as Harbinger said its not very smart to upgrade because it can cause bugs and major slowdowns.
