techpro
I've installed 7100 yesterday & it's working more than perfect . Today I discovered this bug...not sure if it's just me or if anyone else is having it too. First : if I try to delete anything from the desktop it shows the confirmation for a permanent delete! Second : On deleting an file from anywhere ( other than desktop) it doesn't show in recycle bin ! Screenshots attached:
Midnight Mick
Second picture still shows the txt document on your desktop, thats why is not in the recycle bin!
techpro
The second one is about the second problem...i deleted another file not that one but still nothing in recycle bin !
therat
Right click on the recycle bin, you can change what happens when you delete a file there.
techpro
I've done that & I can see that " Don't move files to recycle bin " in unchecked !!!!
beatmztr
Someone was complaining about a similar problem, he said that fixed itself by renaming the Recycle bin to Trashcan or something else (His problem was everything on the C: drive got deleted permanently but things on other drives were sent to recycle bin )
techpro
i've tried that...nothing changed..the problem is still there !
noroom
How did you install it? Upgrade from Vista? Upgrade from the beta? Clean install? I would just try a clean reinstall, booting from the DVD.
techpro
a clean install on a 40 GB drive !
08993
I'm thinking the Recycle Bin is all but disabled due to you having it on a 40gb partition - bin usually requires 10% of partition space, how much space is free on partition?
techpro
exactly 31.8 GB free .
08993
Hmmm, sounds like a bug then! Maybe a fail-safe due to small partition size but would be unusual.
Zero3K
Its not happening to me (I have the "display delete confirmation dialog box" option unchecked). My hard drive is 500 GB, though.
techpro
I have another issue now..I tried working with the " Don't move files to recycle bin" checked...but still deleted files are sent to recycle bin but not visible e there !!!!! (btw my C: is only 40 GB but my HDD is 320 GB )
ObiWanToby
This happens in Vista. Have not had this issue in 7 Beta 1.
pasty2k2
Have you tried re-installing build 7100? A strange bug happened to me in a previous build, 7057 I think, where if I opened media player it would crash within 5 seconds, trying to add files to my library from another drive. Nothing would sort it, so I reinstalled and it was fine. Really weird, I did this in exactly the same conditions, same DVD, same laptop, both times offline from the net. I know its a completely different problem but it did just go away when reinstalling. Maybe try that?
techpro
I think i'll try that later...it's not really affecting my work with it :) just thought to share it with everyone. I'll reinstall it next weekend & see what happens ( if no one finds a solution by that time ). Thank you all!
