Server trouble. Thats prety much it. I assume they are working on a fix right now. a number of things can cause this including massive amount of visitors (guests and register members)

Same thing happend last week. May be its time to add an extra server or remove some older things off.

I think they mentioned last week about problems with one of the power supplies on the servers. Maybe something has gone wrong with its replacement, or another problem is occurring. I'm sure things will be sorted soon and we'll hear official information :)

Has nothing to do with the server, it's a database issue.

Please let only developers and staff comment on things of this nature.

Speculation only causes confusion.

The developers are aware of the issues and are working to correct them.

Thank you.

I know I'm just beating a dead horse at this point, but want to, again, say what ridiculously slow / non loading at all, the forums are ALWAYS for me here.

Pages just time out and don't load, I have to reload half a dozen times sometimes just to read a post. Its the reason I haven't been very active or made a post in quite some time, it just takes forever.

The strange part is that its completely fine, functioning perfectly, for several friends of mine around the country on different ISP's, but on my connection, Cablevision Optimum Online, also tested on friend's connections in other citys, same ISP, same way, practically unusable, and its been this way for months now.

Its a shame because I really miss reading/using these forums, but it took me half a dozen timeouts, reloads just to get logged in, to this section, and this message posted. Its, literally, taken about fifteen minutes just to get it to work.

I don't know if its a geographical problem, northern Jersey just outside NYC, or what, but I've had several people also in my area test it too many times over a span of several weeks. The problem is a constant every single day issue for us, and its been this way for months now, forums practically unusable.

Might be something to do with your DNS or something, because I live in England and the site works like every other site.

What you shouldn't forget, is that Neowin is massive. We have over 8 million members, many many of which visit daily. It's in the top 2000 most visited sites in the UK, Oz, etc, and in the top 4000 in the US. With such a big audience, the servers are handling some seriously consistent requests.

226,389 members with over 8.5 million posts to be exact.

Neowin may be big, but not quite as big as your post suggests, Antaris.

If you guys have speed problems, please immediately take a screenshot of this area:

and upload it here. These is the server side rendering times, server load, etc. If you post that, we can determine whether the problem is on our end or yours.

If it helps here's what I'm getting right now. I expect the server is under a lot less load right now though. I'll post another one tonight.

If Neowin ever gets that large, Neobond should buy a country and then all of us could move there.
