Ayepecks
http://www.xbox360achievements.org/news-11...-Explained.html http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/27/a-look-a...ts-on-xbox-360/ Second link is just a Joystiq article linking to the first. Posted it so you all can read the comments if you like. I've got to agree with the original article's writer. I really wish games were just out of 1000 no matter what. I'm not a gamerscore ######, but if I have a game, I like to get the most out of it. So after I beat it, sure I'll go for achievements (unless it's just not a good game). macrosslover
If a company wants to add more achievements to a title after it's released more power to them. I can understand people feeling the "need" to go back and get more achievements that are nickle and dimed into a game but it doesn't affect anything other than epeen so I don't see what the big deal is. It would be a bigger issue IMO if achievement points actually meant something other than status.
SMELTN
1000 should be the top. Break it up in the game how you want :)
spenser.d
I don't honestly know why it should matter at all how many points you can get in a game. What's the difference? -Spenser

Ayepecks
But that's my whole point... why do they need to keep adding points? Why not keep it at a standard of 1,000? It just seems silly to keep adding and adding to an arbitrary number of 1,750. Why not make it 2,000 if you think there's that much bonus content? They keep pushing these standards and they get sillier.
ew2x4
It matters because it helps sell games. Not hard at all to figure out.
Ayepecks
I think we all get that logic :) (Not trying for that to come across as rude, sorry if it does.)
____
It's nice that new achievements can accompany new content, if you lock it at 1000 then you can't use achievements to guide players through new content or gameplay changes. It is good that they have some sort of limit though, otherwise developers would be adding millions of gimme gamerscore points to sell more copies. Sartoris
This reminds me of: Why don't you just make ten louder and make ten be the top number and make that a little louder? [pause] These go to eleven.
Brad.
I like the idea of having more than 1000 GS points in a game. Might actually make me pick up that title again (Y)
NienorGT
Nah, I think getting new achievements with DLC is a good idea, making it obviously burst the 1K.
Guest
I like the idea of getting new achievements along with DLC... One thing im kinda ****ed off about is the fact that some of these games have a title updates that forces the extra achievements on players before they actually buy the DLC. I was close to 1000 with Halo 3 and GOW, next thing i know they suddenly bump it up to 1750... lost my motivation to get a perfect score. Wish the achievements were only provided with the content that i have purchased. Probably a tactic to get people buying the games... but i dont appreciate it. red.
I don't really care about achievement points to the gamer as they're worthless but I do like the way that they are used in a way that companies can't release loads of DLC right after the game's release. That annoys me a lot because it could easily have been added to the game and makes the companies look like they're ripping us off.

Well, they could always make it where the achievement points only go to those who purchase the DLC (e.g., leave everyone who didn't purchase DLC @ 1,000 points available and not show up on their gamercard), but I don't see that happening. Yea, thats what I would like to see in the future. I noticed the same thing for Burnout on the PS3... When the trophies were released they included trophies for the toycar vehicles as extra incentive to buy the expansion pack
neoadorable
no problem for me, extra content = extra gamerscore, that's logical. i love the GS but never cared about my ratio, just the total. not fussed with 1000/1000's.
