Spangle
I recently installed Windows 7 RC, and had absolutely no problems with it for about a week, but now, for some reason or another, Windows Live Messenger seems to hang constantly every time i a)open a conversation window, b)sign in, c) go in to the menu to change any items or really, ANY function whatsoever, and it has completely annoyed the crap out of me. I went through the process of reformatting and trying again, with the problem alleviating it self, but only for a short time. As I ran Winamp, for some reason or another, that's when it began to commence hanging again. I've tried uninstalling the program, and a possible plug in(gen_msn), but the program still hangs regardless. I don't really care to go back to Vista, but it seems to look like I'll have to, which sucks, because this OS is FAR superior in terms of speed. But this is far too annoying. Any suggestions before I pull the trigger on that idea?
Seventh Son
Same thing here. Hangs at random.
lordvj
Try using miranda or pidgin. They are far superior than WLM lol
Kevin.
This hasn't happened to me. Did you do a clean install or an upgrade?
Spangle
Clean install. I always do clean installs of everything. I even reformatted again, and came across the same issue. I've since gone back to Vista since the new Service Pack is out, but it's so much slower =/ Well, at least, considerably slower. Sucks. If they fix that problem though, if so happens that people have it a lot, I'll be right back on the Windows 7 train.
Kevin.
Have you've tried uninstalling and reinstalling WLM? If not, try that and see if that helps,
Spangle
Yup. Did that many times. Even made sure that WLM was completely wiped with ZapMessenger. It was still screwed up. I gave up on it. I tried a lot.
Ambroos
APatch broke it for me, sure you didn't do that?
Spangle
Nope, it was just a regular install. I don't use any other programs, like Plus!, APatch and etc..
