I wouldn't say "cheat it." The XPM integration is better than VMWare's, and unlike VMWare which is very expensive, XPM is included with the price you pay for Windows 7 Professional/Ultimate/Enterprise. On top of that, it includes a fully licensed version of XP SP3 which you'd have to get separately with VMWare.

Any hints as to where I might stumble across it?..... ;)

All it does at the moment is installs the service and puts a link to download the image - but the link is broken

but it gives you the ability to create a Virtual PC

If you click "Virtual Machines" what you get in Explorer isn't a regular folder, it's a list of your virtual machines and on the command bar will be a button that says "Create virtual machine."

Does this virtual machine have access to the 3D-acceleration on your videocard?

Could someone try running dxdiag within XPM and see what it says on the graphics-tab?

Check your Hardware spec's

Must have a Processor with Virtualization technology & check your bios to enable Virtualization !

No, it does not.

It requires a CPU that has support for either Intel VT or AMD-V. You'll have to look up the specifications for your CPU and see if it supports it (which it does not look like it does). If it doesn't, there is no way you can use XP Mode and you should just uninstall it.

VMWare does not need this, which is why that will still work on your machine.
