I have both the x32 and x64 bits downloaded and verified from connect. Cannot wait to install the 64 bit on my laptop when I get home.

Some x64 users have reported BSOD make sure you backup your system before you install.

Regardless of whether or not others are getting BSODs, pre-release OS's should always be tested on a non-primary machine, and of course system backups are a must.

I believe that was on the leaked builds. Regardless of if those were the exact same iso as the actual release rc build....I shall see what happens.

I remember posts about a malware laden x64 build on torrents. So I am hoping my experience in the evening will be better :)

I dont suppose anyone downloading the x64 Windows 7 RC has the URL to the ISO....

Ah....no

From connect you have to be part of the beta. From technet or msdn you need a vaild account. Just wait for May 5th for the public rc or of course you can wait a few hours and get it how ever you choose.

I can wait for the real thing. No hurry at all....

On Tuesday, May 5 (PST), the RC will be available to everyone via our Customer Preview Program. As with the Beta, the Windows 7 RC Customer Preview Program is a broad public program that offers the RC free to anyone who wants to download it. It will be available at least through June 30, 2009, with no limits on the number of downloads or product keys available.

Yep Ive been using the same beta key since January.

(And here I thought I was special and grabbed a couple personal ones before the servers went down, turns out mine are the same keys everyone else has).

Thanks Monotremata.

It's all downloaded and installed and MSDN seems to be back up and running now. I haven't spent too much time poking around yet but I've noticed that there doesn't seem to be any way to provide feedback and report bugs.

I'm also having some trouble with the default drivers for my integrated graphics. The Intel driver that installed by default doesn't seem to support rotation (I've installed on a tablet) and the Vista drivers won't install. I haven't really spent enough time troubleshooting the problem yet so hopefully it will all come together quickly enough.

This was more than a rumor; one of the torrents wrapped a malicious program around the setup file, which meant installing the RC from that release also began installation of the malware (unless detected by the user's AV of course). The changes made to it resulted in a different file size and checksums.

The SHA1 and ISO/CRC checksums posted earlier in this thread are the same as those of the uninfected leak. I don't know much about the subject, but the way I understand it it's very difficult to modify a file's contents without influencing its checksums.

Why anyone would risk downloading a possibly infected torrent when the Official Public RC is only a mere 5 days away is beyond me.

I'm at home at the moment so I don't have access to MSDN (My boss does tho) but does anyone know if Windows 2008 R2 RC1 has also been released today?

Thanks

Really???? - You have 700+ post in a window's forum/site - and you don't consider that people would want the next big thing as soon as they can??? this is something you don't understand????? - People will start downloading leaks as soon as they appear. That behaviour is pretty consistent with tech enthusiasts.... MOVING ON!!!!!

Calm down, dude. I'm talking about the fact that official RC is only a few days away. And rumors of virus/worm infected torrents haven't been this widespread in quite a while. It just doesn't saem to be worthy the risk.

I, too, have installed and used leaked all builds since 7000 (except 7100). Just a common sense assessment on my part.

If you don't download leaks at ****ty public trackers and such you won't have a problem. I'm running the leaked 7100 with my legit beta key. No malware here.

Then let me explain. You can verify that the hash values of the leaked iso matches the hash values of the iso posted on the Technet Subscriptions site. Then you know that you have the real deal. The official hash values can be found here.

The rumors are false. The hash values of the leaked 7100 builds indeed match the official ones. But I agree that downloading software uploaded to torrent sites is risky, even when the virus scans are equivocal.
