Windows 7 RC now on MSDN

Then let me explain. You can verify that the hash values of the leaked iso matches the hash values of the iso posted on the Technet Subscriptions site. Then you know that you have the real deal. The official hash values can be found here.

The rumors are false. The hash values of the leaked 7100 builds indeed match the official ones. But I agree that downloading software uploaded to torrent sites is risky, even when the virus scans are equivocal.

Maybe it's just me then. Because I'm a freak for any leak as well. But I think when the last official build (RC) is released, Id rather it be the real deal and not a leak.

Just my opinion.

actually that's half true...the original leaks with the matched hashes got repacked and released the same day with different hashes and infected files...at the end of the day common sense is all anyone needed to get the right one...it still amazes me tho how many folks showed up with the i can haz 7 now mindset and didn't know some of the basic principles to make sure it was legit

Well actually not all the 7100 leaks were infected, luckily mine wasn't. The bay of pirates torrent was the only known leak that was infected.

All i got to say imo is that the leaked RC is the same as the RC that was released to MSDN/TechNet subscribers and public. They have the same hashes and if there would be an extension of the expiration date, it would be pointless considering that the RTM should be released before 2010, at least before the RC expires.

Stupid Microsoft. Why can't they prepare for things like this.

Agreed. They've learned *nothing* from when they released the beta and the servers crashed

Now they're having server problems again, and it's only released for paying TechNet and Msdn customers. I don't want to know how bad it will get when they publicly release it on the 5th :pinch:

I'm just glad I got it already, somehow  :pirate:

Where? I'm not seeing it anywhere. :(

You need to be part of the closed beta to see it.

Some x64 users have reported BSOD make sure you backup your system before you install.

Haven't had a single Bsod on x64.

The miniature nova one was clean... or so I heard

btw: 1111 posts

It was one that was on the pirate one and was removed pretty quickly. It may have spread elsewhere, but yeah, the mods on the minature one do a pretty good job at removing any bad things uploaded.

How do I check hash from today's release against the dl I got 4/23. Can't even find the original tracker.

It has the label 7100.0.090421-1700_x86fre_client_en-us_Retail_Ultimate-GRC1CULFRER_EN_DVD which doesn't seem to match today's release.

They took down the earliest 4/23 PB torrent labeled 7100.0.090421-1700_x86fre_client_en-us_Retail_Ultimate-GRC1CULFRER_EN_DVD so I cannot reload the file into Utorrent to check hash. Is there another way? This label doesn't seem to match the 86b released today.

Works great in Windows 7.....lucky for me my download (from D), the ISO matched the hash reported from the official RC on MSDN, so I'm there already and virus/trojan free. :p

:p Thanks rev23dev (for the rc hash from today's release) and mwpeck for the hash extractor, it took 2 minutes and works perfectly! Now I sleep a lot better tonight.

Can someone tell me the size in GB of the RC. Is it 2.3 GB? And is that the same size as the beta? Bcos, my elms account says Win 7 beta. I think that is the RC and has been mislabeled. But cannot be sure.

No offence but if you can't tell an infected download from an untampered one you can't really call yourself a techie and probably shouldn't be messing around with betas at all (not directing this at you). Especially in this case seems it's extremely easy to spot the infected one. :)

I rely on free Spybot's right click scan on extracted torrents files. Just make sure to choose "intergrate into explorer shell option" as administrator at install. It is the only one that I've found that weeds out false positives and is unrelenting on bugs chasing them in and out of safe mode if necessary.

Is this the same build that the one that leaked on the internet before?

It is the same as build 7100 that was leaked, but becareful. There is one out there in the wild that has been modified with a virus. I find the one you download direct from MS to be better then the torrent ones because it has not been modified in any way.

I have P4 @ 2.4GHz, a 7300GT 256MB and 1GB DDR RAM. It is enough to run Windows 7? (I skipped Vista because my system is too old (getting a new one this summer))

Running Vista with that would be a serious pain, but you should be ok with Win7. You'll love it.
