DSLJay
I was wondering what everyone who is using the RC build as far as an Anti-Virus goes. Also, if you have tried an antivirus that didn't work, please explain.
devHead
Avira Anti-Vir personal works perfectly for me. I'm running Windows 7 x64 also. Download it and install it; it will serve you well.
xJakex
Kaspersky Tech Preview. It works great and it comes with a 6 month free license. :)
Ambroos
Common Sense 2009 ;) Never failed on me (I do scan regularily, just nothing realtime)
pbcopter
I'm using NOD32 4.0 and it works very well but it is not free. I have been using it since the beta.
devHead
Kaspersky Tech Preview. It works great and it comes with a 6 month free license. :) But Avira comes with a forever free license.
Wakers
Kaspersky Tech Preview. It works great and it comes with a 6 month free license. :) Kaspersky tech preview was rubbish for me. Everytime it had to scan a file over 100mb it just ate up memory until my pc froze and there was no way of stopping it without restarting. Avira works perfectly fine. ew2x4
AVG FREE works great on my x86 machine. Have yet to install 7 on my x64 machine.
xJakex
But Avira comes with a forever free license. It's only temporarily also until the final is released. Then I'm sure if you look for it on 'you know sites', then you will find keys. Avira isn't for a typical user who uses torrents, it gives way too many false positives, whereas Kaspersky rarely does. Goalie33
I'm running NOD32 V4...I can't get the entire Security Suite to work so I'm just running the AV programa and it's working fine.
Grex
I have been running Avast Home (Free). Been running great.
wiak
NOD32, even 2.7 should work fine on windows

Not a beta, a final, free version.
_dandy_
Common Sense 2009 ;) Never failed on me (I do scan regularily, just nothing realtime) Got a link? But seriously...I haven't installed any AV on my one machine I've installed the RC on (Acer netbook), nor do I intend to do so. It's not a download machine, it's not an email machine, and it's certainly not a "lets visit pr0n sites" machine.
ViperAFK
Common Sense 2009 ;) Never failed on me (I do scan regularily, just nothing realtime) Same here. I haven't had a virus in YEARS. (and I do do scan manually so I know I'm not infected)

xJakex
What? Avira Antivir Personal is a free anti-virus. Not a beta, a final, free version. I should've been more clear, but I was referring to Kaspersky. Nag screens are a pet peeve for me.
DerAusgewanderte
and I can already predict the flaming that follows my post :p . Those of you who would like to down talk NIS2009, please educate yourself first (I've been one of them until I tried it) . I can't tell the difference in performance with or without it installed and it's no resource hog as it used to be in the past. NIS2009 works perfectly fine on my 64 bit
elconquistador
I should've been more clear, but I was referring to Kaspersky. Nag screens are a pet peeve for me. The Avira nag screen can easily be blocked by windows. Try googling for it. That said, Avira AV hasn't failed me on xp so far and works great with 7. Jeff_MSWindows
Here is a list of Windows 7 security providers from Microsoft: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/antivirus.../windows-7.aspx . Has anyone tried ones listed here that haven't been discussed so far in the thread?
ilike2burnthing
Kaspersky Tech Preview seems to be the best for me. Comes with integrated firewall and anti-spy/spamware software, any problems of bsod have been fixed and a six month free license comes with it. To solve the problems of speed, there is an option to 'concede resources to other programs'. Kaspersky has a great history for anti-virus software and has never failed me. Enjoy! Deathray
I've tried Norton, Kaspersky, AVG, and now I'm currently on Avira I don't remember much about Kaspersky, but Norton and AVG did work. I'm sticking with the free version of Avira based on its score in tests (I know, they tested premium, but same engine, and I only want the antivirus protection)
nlspecial
Nod32 business edition works for me. Doesnt hog resources and scans fast hardly any false positives. Works perfectly in win7 rc.
