Working AntiVirus for RC

Recommended Posts

So how does Avira work for those who download cracks/patches? Annoying false positives?

If this is still the case, which it probably is, that's why I'm sticking with Kaspersky. :D

You don't NEED an Anti Virus. Find some other types of protection, maybe you will benefit from it!

That was the most ignorant statement i've heard in a long time .

No, not really. Some people will benefit from HIPs instead of a signature based AV and others will benefit behavior based security and even sandboxing.

Norton 360 v3 beta tester. Has always worked. Now it's released. Give it a try. Norton's reputation for making fat bloaty software should be forgotten. Try the new version.

Has worked fine on x86 and x64 since the pdc build.

Why? There's much better protection to be had.

NOD32 is working perfectly for me.

I have tookin the suggestion of installing nod32 and it seems to be running pretty niicly with it although does not communicate with the windows notification service but windows at least knows its there.

Maybe if you're a frickin' network admin. The average home user won't.

Avast works okay and I have been using Vipre since Windows 7 beta and its working fine. It's my A/V of choice.

I run on both 32bit and 64bit machines with Build 7100 of Windows 7.

running Avira Antivir here, but I have no idea which is better for what. To be honest, I have never had a virus so I couldn't tell you if one works better than the others.. I pretty much come here to see which one is best from others too.

Running Kaspersky 8.0.0.1081 here. The previous version didn't integrate very well with the Action Center, but this one does. Been running perfectly on my system. Plus, it comes with a 6 month beta licence wich is enough to hold on until RTM.

Yeah same here. The previous version also told you that the databases were out-of-date when they actually were up-to-date. I haven't encountered any problems yet with it. :)

Hmm, mine does. Are you running version 4?

What? Avira Antivir Personal is a free anti-virus. Not a beta, a final, free version.

Thank you! I don't know where he thought that it was in Beta. Plus, I've never had problems with Avira and Torrents

Norton Internet Security works well on x64 Build 7100

Good. I've been using NIS 2009 (16.5) on Builds 7000 (x86), 7068 (x86) and 7077 (x64) without issue and was hoping it would be OK with 7100.

Its strange though, in the Norton Forums people are complaining its not working on Windows 7 x86 but it runs perfect on x64, wonder why that is?

For the average PC user (non tech savvy, casual internet surfer), an Anti Virus app of some sort is a NECESSITY.

agreed. it's also ignoring those with younger family members. just imagine two innocent 10year olds that think the PC is a safe place. Next to child control software an AV is a must.

Sunbelts Vipre Antivirus software works well under the build downloaded from TechNet build 7100. However, Norton 360 when installing I get an issue due to a driver that has known compatibility issues so I got rid of it. Vipre installed without any problems. It comes with a 15 free trial.

I thought I just read on the previous page that there is a beta version for windows 7 of Norton 360 that works? btw. NIS2009 and NAV2009 work fine. Norton 360 has a registry cleaner and backup progam included that will lead to problems with a new OS (therefore the beta).

Norton 360 V3 was finalized and it worked on build 7000 with no problems. I ran the beta prior to V3 becoming gold and I enjoyed the improvements. I am not aware of another beta of the 360. I previously paid for it when they released the version 3 for my Vista machine. Granted I have read NIS works, but I would have to purchase it in order to use it since there is no free trial for it that I am aware of.
